New Englanders - upcoming Supercar Saturday event 5/01 will feature a McLaren F1

Okay - it is somewhat rare to get advanced warning on a chance to see a McLaren F1 so when I hear about one I always try to let people know. Here is a heads up on what should be a great event.



The McLaren F1 that will be in attendance is this silver road car - chassis #068. It is the very same car I got a ride in back in 2005, though now with a new owner who is also just as gracious and affable. A real gearhead too!

For anyone in the area of Ferrari of New England this weekend, I'd suggest making plans to stop by and check it out along with all the other great cars that should be attending.

5 hours....AH...I thought that 3 hours Helsinki-Turku (Concours de Elegance sports car meeting) is long...

BUT!!!!!

To see and hear McLaren F1, and possible some Lamborghini's-, and Ferraris classic and new.... Go there. And remember the camera, and load the batteries!

I'd drive that far just for the opportunity to meet the owner in this instance. Fine gentleman he seems to be, and a heck of a car guy on top of that.

I used to drive 7 hours each way to collect car parts for my various projects and would not drive any less to see an interesting Mclaren

Me neither normally but as much as i adore them, getting up on one of my last saturdays in college at 6am to drive 5 hours there (4 hours, 45 mins) and back for a car i've seen already just isn't appealing to me

I'd love to meet Dan and hope to one day but i'd be driving 10 hours total to spend maybe an hour with the car (which ive seen anyway) and not up close since its a public show and probably just get some lousy crouded shots.

I asked some friends if they wanted to go and they felt the same way (and they haven't even seen one yet)

There will be better oportunities for me/us to see F1's this summer. Trust me

Silvestone I think is Super car Run at Friday during FIA GT1 raceweekend, if I understood Le Man's comment right.
So that could be also a change to see some F1's?

Luckily someone was on the scene...

Access was pretty limited for cool pictures and the lighting was weird but I got a few good ones. From what I could see the car is exceptionally clean and in beautiful condition. I did not get to meet with the owner.

Ferrari of NE has been amazing since they opened - very friendly and outgoing. There was every type of car there and the Ferrari/Maserati shop looked very busy with a variety of different jobs going on. Kudos to them for opening it up. Getting an F1 and an F40 together in the same garage was like a dream!

Blast from the past - great to see you here again Drew!

Funny enough I just mentioned your name to someone today when they inquired on the source of an F1 LM photo that I shared elsewhere which they had never seen before.

Anyway, very happy to see that you were able to get out there to see #068 - funny that you never had before (I assume), even given the earlier connection you had to the car.

I'd agree it was not in the best location for photos, but they had to account for the fact that some people don't have any respect for another person's car and to provide better access for most would have probably caused an issue with a few.

Thanks for the photos. Your set is my favorite so far!
