im the same dude - i try to learn about everything and havent personally rebuilt an engine but ive sat in on a couple being rebuilt just do i can learn about what goes on... all i can say so far is that its suck ass to sit there and seat 24 valves....

If you had cams on an RB20DET it is possible they would hit isn't it? Or do they only change the duration of the valve opening? i know it depends on the cams but in general what would be the situation?

Yeah, I have also pulled the engine apart, thats how I knew they didn't hit. .ahhh the love of the RB20DET, it the cam belt breaks, no worries as for Honda's..

As for the CAMS, the RB20DET cannot have extreme cams put in as the lifters will hit.. they have to be changed if you want an completely different cam in the RB20DET engine.
