They didn't use a truck motor they bored the aluminium mustang block and chromely sleeved it to get the displacement. Also the 2000 and 93 Cobra R was only available in red.

The Triton/Cobra engines are all part of the Ford modular engine family. Even the 6.8 liter V10 is part of this family of engines. The Mustang Cobra engines are all aluminum DOHC 4 valve per cylinder engines.
The 2003+ Cobra uses an iron block, of 4.6 liters to make it's power, since Ford was counting on people overdriving the blower and stroking the engine and blowing the aluminum block to pieces. The Cobra R still used the DOHC aluminum V8.

The block is cast iron the heads are aluminum but the block is cast iron.
