Return of Studebaker

I think that perhaps they dug too far back into Studebaker's history -- many of you know that the Studebaker brothers started out making wagons for the cavalry in the 1800's -- in choosing an SUV for their newest product.

Instead, I'd much rather have seen a modernised version of the 1953 Starlite coupe.

i used to own a 63 studebaker long bed pickup it had a 259 v8 with electric overdrive i towed 10.000 lbs any time i wanted to .a lot of my friends had 3/4 to 1ton fords and chevys and dodges they couldnt keep up with me .if you research studebaker history they made cars and trucks that were ahead of their time the studebakers that were made before 1966 were real studebakers the others that were made after 1966 were junk copies of the avanti in 1964 the real avanti with a 289 supercharged engine with a 4bbl was faster than the fastest corvette the avanti topped out at 168 mph the 56 golden hawk with a 352 packard motor with a supercharger was almost as fast the only reason i sold my 63 pickup was it got too rusty . other companys made a lot of ugly vehicles like the chevy vega the pinto early dodge darts before you trash something you have never owned open up your brain and do some research at the moment i have a 83 amc 4wd wagon all it needs is a transmisssion i used it to transport my disabled wife then the trans broke then i bought a 1971 f250 stepside pickup it ran good for a year then the 390 blew up i wont spend 2600.00 for a low hp low torque 390 i then bought a 1977 b600 schol bus it runs really good i am thinking of putting the motor a 330xd and 4speed allison automatic in place of the 390 and t18 trans it will save me a lot of money i am a poor ford owner

I totally agree, Studebakers were way ahead of their time. They built great cars that were built well. My father used to own a '56 Sky Hawk President speedster and it was an awesome car. It unfortunately fell victim to the same fate lrd56's truck did, rust. Anyone who has ever owned a Studebaker will probably tell you that it was the best thing they ever owned.
I hope that the Studebaker XUV will still be built.
