Help! weird buzz when acclering

shoulden't be a problem, as long as you don't mind the noise? But its a pretty easy fix as I specified earlier.

yea it's pretty annoying..but exams are coming up not much time to do anything

yes exactly where is the noise coming from? I know its hard to tell due to it only happening when you accelerate, try to find out if you can. As for now it dosen't seem that you are having any symptoms besides the noise? I don't believe that you have anything to worry about.

uh-oh...man i check it out again and now im pretty sure it's my front part of the system and not the muffler
because when i step on the acclerator really hard the sound got a lot louder and then my "check engine" light came on

what should i do?!

also you said it was whinning, but then someone said ticking and you said yeah. so which one is it

also doesnt matter if you turn your as on or not, the compressor spins on bearing, if the bearings are going out then it would make a whinning noise.

knocking ? valves ?

its hard to describe the sound from it sounds like the back of your compuerter..like a whirring noise

it's weird cuz if i put it in N then rev it i dont hear anything but if i am on the road then i do

I found a lot of other people with a ticking noise when they accelerate. In fact, I'm one of them. I have a 95 Nissan Pathfinder with the same problem, passenger side. It ticks when i accelerate, especially if in gear. It seems to tick at every RPM, it sounds kinda like a motor cycle. Its gotten louder in the past month. It didn't do it in Nuetral before but now it does. Its a stick shift. How do I check the alternator thing? Also, it gets louder when the engine works harder and it ticks faster at faster RPM. Is that the same as your problem?

PS: My sister has a honda civic that had a weird buzz sound when she accelerates. It sounded like a tie fighter from star wars. Kinda electronic. She hired some wannabe mechanic to put a new engine in for a grand. It fixed the problem, or at least he had fixed it before giving it back. Her car had trouble starting and died sometimes. All the problems happened about the same time. I think they were linked. When she changed out the engine there have been no problems since.

My friend's honda makes a fan noise when he hits the gas but he has custom intake. Maybe its intake related? Gotta describe the noise or record it and post it on a web page so these guys can hear it then toss us the URL

but does that affect the performance of the car/ because when it does the sound the car jerks up and down, and then if i dont release a bit of pressure on the gas then the CE light comes on

possibly the whirring sound is your speedo sensor. and it might be throwing the code for that. is your speedometer working? think about this, what stuff only operates when you are moving? its gonna be everything after the input shaft on your transmission. anything else that rotates will be spinning whenever your engine runs, and since you didnt hear it while in neutral revving, the chances of it being the alternator or AC compressor or slim.

of course theres a chance that the noise only happens when the engine is under a load, in which case it could be inside the engine or the alt. or compr. try this, put it in 1st, and with the ebrake up, try to accelerate. the car wont move much if at all, but you will be putting the engine under a load. which means you can rule out the engine itself or the alt. and compr. if the noise isnt heard. if it isnt heard, move on to the tranny and the rest of the drivetrain.

my hypothesis is: wheel bearings or internal bearings in the tranny. or the already mentioned speedo sensor.

does it do it whenever you hit the gas, or only when you make the car accelerate? if it does it whenever you rev the engine, than it could be a lot of things. if it only does it while you are putting the engine under a load to make it accelerate, then the possibilities narrow a lot.

it only does it when its under a load..it rarely does it when i accleraterate on 1st gear on a normal startup...what could be the possibilities
