I AOD will not get better gas mileage than a 5-speed tranny, maybe a 4-speed mnaual but not a 5-speed.

Re: Questions? gas driveability help me please!

i would say, after having bought my mustang, i am really happy, but in some ways sad. The 5.0 egine is awsome, but in stock form i think it is pretty lame. For a 5.0 liter engine to be making as little horsepower as it does, that isn't so great. So when you want to have some fun, and you open it up, you pay all the price of having a 5.0 liter, but not too much of the benifit. That is why in some ways i like cars like integras and stuff. You can rip those things all over the city and still be getting pretty decent gas mileage. Of course once you begin to open up th 5.0..forget it. Thing rips it up.

So whats the worst mileage anyone has gotten in normal driving with some letting it out every now and then? And how many miles should the engine go before needing a rebuild? How long would the rebuild last?

Re: Questions? gas driveability help me please!

I get 8-12 MPG on a good day. LOL

You can't really specify a rebuild at a certain mileage. In my case, the crank bearings went out at 116k miles, car was beat pretty hard though. I have also seen stock motors with over 200k miles with no signs of major problems. It's pretty much a case by case basis, but a good rebuild will never hurt even if the motor seems to be running good.
