Gas Tank Help Please!

Hello everyone,
I need help, I need to replace my gas tank and know zero about them. I called a local garage and they were super helpful. They told me I could buy a tank and bring it to them to get them to put on or they can "refinish" my current tank basically clean it up and put a new coating on the inside and out and from what they told me it would look like new. I looked around and found this one (link below) does anyone know anything about these aftermarket tanks (quality, durability, etc.) ? I need help deciding if I should get my stock 89 tank refinshed or put this new one on there. Basically the reason I need to replace it is because I blew a head gasket and the car sat for about two years and the gas "gummed up" (not sure what you call this) anyway they (a different garage) replaced the fuel filter and everything but instead of taking the tank off and cleaning it they just "flushed the system really good". Well, I have had it back for 3 months and on two occasions my car wouldn't start after it got below half a tank so I'm thinking it's the crap in the tank because when it's filled up, it's fine. The garage that I called the other day agreed, they said there's probably rust, etc. in there and it would be best to replace/refinish it, I really want to do either if just for piece of mind that there's not junk in my tank so if anyone can hook me up with some opinions I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Oh yeah, the cost is about the same, there is only about $20 difference to replace or refinsh so I really want to do what's best.

Well, if theres only a $20 difference between one thats "like new" and one thats really new, I say get the new one.

That's what I am thinking too, the only thing I am worried about is the new tank is cheap/flimsey/etc. but I guess I won't really know until I get it in my hands.

Re: Gas Tank Help Please!

check the dude's feedback see if anyone else bought a tank from him, and maybe email them and ask how they like it.

seriously man, if your tank isnt leaking, just drain it, drop it, and clean it out. the hole in the top is big enough to put your arm in, and you can grab whatever trash is in the bottom easily. then from there, just vacuum it out with a wet/dry vac. and while you are at it, blow out the lines going from your fuel pump up to the body of the car.
