Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
Well for the record I put the o-ring in, then the circular metal clip, then the JB Weld around the top. I've got to get the pressure tested though, your absolutely right.

Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
Not yet, I can get the part locally for about $360, but i found it online for $300 so i'm debating where to buy it. Either way I probably won't get to untill Friday or Saturday. I'm dieing to get her back on the road. I've been using my Dad's truck to get to work, luckly he is at sea in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.

Re: Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
$360 isn't that bad, up here in Canada the GM dealer wanted $1100 Canadian for one, then an AC delco dealer had them for $800 retail, lucky for me I got mine for $500 trade cost. I know someone in the auto sector. At least in the states you have some companys rebuilding them, or just selling the pressure regs. Up here theres nothing in the after market, thank goddness for the internet. Could you imagine my bill if I took the truck into the dealer to have that done? $1100 plus 5 hours labour? Crazy, I like this truck when the weather turns on you or need some pulling power, but the repairs blow. My old S10 2WD was the cheapest truck I've ever owned, the head gasket went, bought another truck for $250, swapped motors drove the other motor for another 80000 miles.
Anyway Merry Christmas, try to enjoy it by not spending too much time in the garage. Laugh, |

Thanks a ton! Fortunately my I get the parts at cost so the $360 is cost, otherwise it'd be $550. Merry Christmas to you too, hope Santa treats you right!

Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
Jethro Canada and GMMerlin,
Thanks so much for the help on my repair. I was waiting for the wireing harness to the injection unit which broke as I was taking out the old injection unit. I finished the repair this morning and the ol' gal fired right offf. I could not have been happier and I gratefull for all the help and guidance you offered. Thanks a million! -Andy |

Thanks for your help everyone - I'm in the middle of the injector assembly job right now and this thread really came in handy.
I'm placing an image of my intake in my gallery. You can see the puddles of fuel inside of my intake! I thought it might be useful for people to see all of the parts. |

Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
I really hope you replaced the internal fuel line kit also and changed the oil ASAP.
Driver's side failure usually mean a line leak whereas a passenger side leak means CPI regulator. |

By the way, You should be careful with your oil like BlazerLt says, my oil level increase about 1/4 Gal, and looks to thin. |

Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
I thought I'd bump this rather than start a new thread.
Basically I have a very similar problem and just spent 1/2 the day changing the fuel pump only to find it still won't start. It's a 94 S10 Blazer also. Here's where I am: The car won't start, it just turns over. It doesn't even ever attempt to catch. I bought a fuel pressure gauge and it was getting about 15psi. The fuel pump turned on, but sounded kind of weird so with low pressure and the sound I said that's it. So I replaced it and I still have the same problem. I still have about 15psi. If I shoot starter fluid into the (whatever you call it) it fires up and then dies because it runs out of starter fluid. I changed the Spider about a year and 1/2 ago because one of the injectors was bad. I bought an Autozone one, put it in and its been just fine since. I'm kind of at the point where I think it has to be that Spider (fuel regulator) only because I can't think of anything else it could be; however, I wouldn't think that would prevent it from starting. The only other thing is the new fuel pump is bad, but I had 15psi before and after and now it sounds just perfect. Now when I get up to 15psi after the 2 seconds it goes back down fairly quickly and I'm not sure that is normal or not? I don't see any leaks anywhere in the fuel lines and I would think if there was a leak it would be big enough to see gas. Anyhow I had the thing towed home as I changed the fuel pump out in the blazing sun today, and I have to reset myself to figure out what I may be missing. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Dave |

Re: '94 S-10 4.3L Blazer Vin W Won't Start
Did you check your fuel filter? Located on the inside of the frame rail on the driver's side under the driver's door or approximate.

Quote:
1.) Check and replace your fuel filter. 2.) Open your upper plenum and check for a fuel line leak like shown above with the driver's side flooded with gas. Check the oil soon! |

Problem Solved!!
Kragen gave me the wrong Fuel Pump. After I wrote this I started thinking, and then I had read about the wrong pump so I got on Kragen.com and sure enough the numbers didn't match. Just went back to Kragen, got the right pump. It is amazing how easy it is to take out the tank after you've done it once. Had I not read this site I think I'd still be trying all sorts of things.and probably spending all kinds of money. This is one of the best sites (being my own Mechanic for four cars) I have found, and appreciate the quick responses. Thanks.... |
