Where are you located and what type of engine (code) is it? I'm assuming you're not in the states cuz the '01 Lancer doesn't exist here.

I was told it was out of a 2001 lancer. You could be right, it might be out of 2002 but was just purchased in 2001. I'm not sure of the engine code. One of the import dealers I go through said it was a damn good engine. He said it makes upwards to 200 hp. I know that it is 2.0 Liter
single overhead cam engine. If you could tell me where to read the engine code, I'll look it right up.

4g94. That's all I needed to know, thanks. Still hoping for the ridiculously small chance that I may stray upon the engine I need.

Eh...something like that. A transversely mounted 4g93t or 4g93E (DOHC). If you can find either one I'll truly be impressed.
