lancer engine replacement

Bought a 2003 Lancer es repo. Motor frozen due to no oil. Will I need to re move the motor and trans as a unit, or can I pull the motor by itself ?

Re: lancer engine replacement

Hi there,
Actually you if it's seized you will have to have the crankshaft grinded but anyway you'lll have to pull out the motor. To do so the easiest way is to take out the whole assy(motor+trans) but if you don't have a crane then it will be easier to take out the trans first and then the Motor. Don't forget to use a proper engine hanger when doing so.

Pulled the motor by itself yesterday. No problems. Don't see how pulling both the motor+trans would be easiest.
