Unlucky! Isn't central locking great? It must have been a quiet neighbourhood, weren't you afraid of someone wandering by and stealing your car as it sat there idling (until the doors locked, that is)?

I had a friend who did something similar. It was an icy day so he started his car and got out to scrape his windows. As he got to the back he noticed that his hatch wasn't closed properly so he gave it a push. This closed it, but unfortunately it also triggered the central locking and left him stranded in the cold.

I ended up making a 40 mile return trip to fetch his spare remote for the locking (he didn't have a spare key ) only to find that the battery in the spare remote was flat In the end we had to call for someone to come and break into the car.

I laughed my ass off at the time. He laughed some time afterwards

I can't figure out how your G did that b/c it can't lock if the car is running. I've tried it a few too many times. Heck, I just accidentally locked my doors yesterday while the car was running and it threw its little hissy fit and left the doors unlocked in the end...

I'm thinking your wiring needs to be checked over b/c it's definately not right.

Please don't get me wrong. I love my car. I really, truly, love it. It is by far the best car I've ever owned.

I was sarcastically lamenting the fact that my car is difficult to break in to, therefore making it "sturdy". You should have seen the difficulty the police had even getting their hogwire into the car...the door was simply too tight. Then, when that failed, they were unable to jimmy the locks open (with a 'slim jim'). In actuality, I think that "difficult-to-break-into-ness" is a fantastic feature in an automobile. One thing the Japanese have a reputation for is very tight tolerances in both mechanicals and body panels..

Here's an interesting fact for you, gleaned from the Discovery Channel. The average American car, when driven into a lake or other large body of water, takes just over 3 minutes to become completely submerged. The average Japanese car takes nearly 8 minutes. (Got this from a show about a lady who buckled her infant and 3-yr old into their seats and rolled the car into a lake, just because her 'crush' didn't like kids. These were the facts given by the police when they talked about how long this woman had to rescue her children, but she didn't even look back.) Of course this data is circa 1995 or so, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Regardless, I'm not even mad at the car for locking me out, rather, I think it's funny. (Unfortunate, but funny.)

Also, to Tangie, strangely enough, all my other electricals function perfectly. The car has never had any electrical problems and doesn't appear to now, besides that little lock incident.

I know what you mean about it being impossible to lock the doors when the key's in the ignition, and you're half right. The G20 doesn't let you lock the doors with the key in the ignition IF any door is open....however, if all doors are closed, and the key's in the ignition, it IS possible to lock all doors from the inside..... Given that my only set of available keys was in the car, and no other humans were, I have to come to the conclusion that the car locked itself, because I tested the "anti-lock-the-keys-in" feature and it still works. Therefore I couldn't possibly have done this myself...

I'm quite sure that the water leaking onto my left foot had something to do with it.

Hardly a "neighborhood" at all. My parents live 7 miles out in the boonies (dirt roads), with a bunch of polygs for neighbors, and a private circle drive. No one in the neighborhood locks their houses, nor their cars.
