Re: 1962 Shelby Cobra CSX2001
I got the plug wires done and distributor done, the fuel line, the pulleys, and the alternator scratch built.
I used some scalehardware.com details to go into the fuel system (the brass hex line) that I bent 90 degrees. The alternator is 3 pieces of styrene, a detail master pulley, hobby design steel tube, scalehardware.com bolts and some old PE washers that I think were from M&M of Maryland. I painted it with alclad dull aluminum and the black is BMF black chrome. I did that so I had a nice clean line and did not have to mask it. I need to add the lines to the fuel rails and the breathers at the top of the valve covers, a dipstick, and this engine is done. I think. ![]() ![]() Thank you! And |

Re: 1962 Shelby Cobra CSX2001
Very nice! Those HRM carbs are pretty, I'll have to pick up a set.
So the rest of the car is the Revell 427 kit? What about the wheels, did Bill machine the plastic? I do have to agree with the others on the wheels, HRM offers more correct-appearing ones (HRM-408). |

Re: 1962 Shelby Cobra CSX2001
The rest of the car are parts I have been collecting and building over the last year. I wouldn't say much is the 427 anymore.
I do have the HRM wheels that are the correct wheels for this car. Bill machined his wheels out of metal and they are a two piece wheel with the 427 center as an insert. Unfortunately as pretty as those are, they will not be used. Yes, the HRM set is good. Thanks for the comments! Andy |

I see - he did a nice job on the rims, they look great. What tires are those, by the way?

Re: 1962 Shelby Cobra CSX2001
I don't know where the tires came from. They were pieced together from two different sets. Between Bill and me, this thing has parts from everywhere. I don't think I will use those on the car either. I have another set that I think might be better.
I used an RBMotion plug wire to attach the wire to the ignition coil which I think adds a great detail. You can see the engine is mounted permanently. I still have to get the fuel up to the fuel rails which is being done with some ProTech braided line painted flat black. The drive shaft was dressed up with an array of PE bolts and washers before some Aclad paint. I think the PE increases the sharpness of the edges and gives additional dimension. I am currently working on the radiator and oil cooler and getting those ready for installation. ![]() ![]() Thanks again for looking! Andy |

Darnit that's nice. I know in the Alclad thread you mentioned not having problem with the stuff, any tips?
Also, any idea where those hubs and brakes came from? |
