Road noise between 35-60 MPH have changed wheel Bearings
I recently had my front passenger side wheel bearing go out.. So I replaced both sides (I did check and it was the passenger side that was bad) this was about 3 months ago. Everything was sounded great over the past 2 weeks I知 now starting to get a growling noise again.. I thought maybe I just got a bad (driver side) bearing, because when I turn the car to the left the growl would go away, and if I turned to the right it would growl louder, based off what I have read online that would be the Driver side.. I changed it out last weekend, and I still have the growl.. I知 going to replace the passenger side again this weekend, but wanted to check and see if there was anything else it could before I tear into this and waste more money.. I did get new tires about 4 months ago, but for 3 months there was no growling sound.
I have also noticed that I can only hear the growl between 35-60 mph, going straight, and turning to the right. Any thoughts on anything else? |

Re: Road noise between 35-60 MPH have changed wheel Bearings
It looks like you're on your way to taking care of this yourself; I wanted to offer that I can look to see if there are any open recalls on your Impala, or can provide warranty information, if you wanted to send me the last 8 of your VIN.

Re: Road noise between 35-60 MPH have changed wheel Bearings
Chances are you replaced the wrong side......there is only one sure way to determine which bearing is bad......jack the front end up, and put the vehicle in drive, and listen to each bearing with a mechanic's stethescope, while the wheel turns......
Some of those aftermarket brands are crap, as has been stated.....also as has been stated, the axle nut has to be properly torqued......also make sure the contact surface of the knuckle is properly cleaned..... |
