Aftermarket radio not turning on all the way
I am trying to install an aftermarket JVC radio in a 1997 ford taurus. i got the wiring harrens and the parts for the face plate. i have done this in a 09 taurus. but for some reason in the 97 the radio want turn on all the way. i can press display and the time, it will then light up and then turn off. idk if its the ground but I put in on the car chass and still nothing.
any help would be great?! |

It sounds to me like you maybe don't have good switched power. If you had an open ground, you probably wouldn't even get the short burst of functionality. I suspect that the radio would still eject a CD even if you don't have the key on (with a correct installation) and that feature is essentially what you are experiencing. You could test this theory by temporarily hooking up the switched power to constant +12V and see if the radio basically functions like you would expect it to.
Have you confirmed that you have power where you should have power and that the fuses in the radio/harness are good? -Rod |
