'91 Sonoma Key won't turn all the way in ignition
Yesterday I could not shut my truck down when I got to work. After fiddling with the ignition lock for a while, I decided to just disconnect the primary wire from the coil, and disconnect the battery. After work I reversed the procedure, drove home, and it shut off fine. I sprayed some WD40 around the lock cylinder and turned the key several times through it's positions, and even started it and shut it off, no problem. Then this morning I go out to start it and the key won't turn into the "start" position at all. I fiddle with it some more, and the ring around the cylinder, (the one with the wings that you turn so the key doesn't take all the stress) falls off in my hand. I plan on pulling the steering wheel and replacing the lock. My question is, does anyone out there have any experience with this, and what should I expect? Also, the intermittent delay feature on my wipers don't work - they are either on or off. Whenever I use my turn signals the wipers make a pass across the wind shield, and when it gets really hot out, sometimes they just decide to turn on and stay on until I am sufficiently embarassed. Should I look into replacing the turn signal/high beams/cruise control switch at this time, or is the delay electronis housed in the wiper motor? How much should I expect to pay for these parts? Thanks for your input, Neal

Re: '91 Sonoma Key won't turn all the way in ignition
The delay module is usually located under the steering column just below the dash. You can usually trace the wiring under the column by removing the hush panel below the column. The arbitrary wiping of the wipers is typically a problem with the wiper motor grounds at the firewall or the screws at the base of the wiper motor. Replacement of the ignition key and cylinder is fairly straightforward you just need a lockplate compressor tool to gain access to the turn signal switch, which has to be lifted to gain access to the release tab on the lock. There is also a torx screw that could hold the cylinder in place instead of a tab, a quick look at the new replacement lock would reveal this. Also note that the cylinder has to be removed and installed in the "run" position, anything else let me know good luck.
