working on a 97 Dodge Neon DOHC, diff pin broke and shattered the tranny case, while replacing the tranny we rebuilt the engine. well the engine had a slight knock which got worse after a couple weeks. Tore the pan off and seen it had a spun bearing, replaced the crank, rods and pistons and all the bearings, seals and gaskets again. made sure all the clearances were within spec and everything was good. got everything back together and installed.
Started the engine, before installing the radiator and hoses and such, still had a knock ,after about a minute of running oil started pouring out of the back of the water pump/radiator hose connection. When we removed the pan we noticed coolant in the oil.
Any ideas what the problem could be besides head gasket?
I'm thinking a crack in the block somewhere, from the impact of the tranny shattering.
