GTR 95 to 96 changes

I'm curious what the changes were between the 95 gtr and the 96 gtr, i always though the main difference was the different side skirts and the longer roof scoop but I've seen ones with the redesigned skirts and the shorter LM style roof scoop. can anyone help?

Also hello I'm new, I've been a McLaren fan for years now.

Re: GTR 95 to 96 changes

I'll just add that trying to focus strictly on body features could just leave you confused. Every GTR did not follow the same path or evolve in the same ways. Some cars that raced in multiple seasons received updates from McLaren throughout their life, and then there were other updates which were developed by the teams that raced the cars. Even with in-period photos you will often find several differences with the same car as they made changes through the season to increase performance.

After the fact, several of the cars have been changed by subsequent owners which, certainly in the case of the ones painted orange, has perhaps further betrayed the car's original identity. We even have what we (or at least I) believe to be one 1995 GTR fully redone to the point that it is indistinguishable from the 1996 GTR it is mimicking.
