transmission problems, please help!

I have an '05 honda civic coupe ex with automatic transmission, 130,000 miles on the transmission. I bought the car and I had to put a transmission in it in December 2009 (used transmission). Now the transmission will rev up but won't move ... any suggestions? the fluids are good. Thanks for all the help!

Does the speedometer move when put in drive and revving the engine? If so, than you have a broken axle or it needs another trans. Honda transmissions are the worst thing on a Honda and should never be reused. If the trans fails it's not worth it to put a junk yard trans in.

Automatic transmission failure is a common problem for 2001-2005 civic, 1998-2002 Accords, 2003-2004 Accords, and a few other models.

It got better towards the latter years, but I've still heard of failures in those years. Yours may have suffered this failure from what you described. It sounds dead on for the torque converter eating itself up problem these are known for.

I've read the issue was Honda didn't use any external transmission cooling, and as a result it overheats. At any rate, the torque converter eats itself up from the inside. I've seen pictures of torque converters from those year Honda's with metal chunks on the inside.

Your best bet is to find a good, honest independent transmission shop or a mechanic who knows automatic transmissions. Do NOT take it to the dealer. They will just screw you over on this one when it comes to price.
