Hey guys I just bought a 95 integra GSR. It will soon have DC sports stainless steel headers, and aem intake. in total, it will have intake, exhaust, and headers. What I was wondering is what kind of turbo should i go for. Also, when i decide to do this turbo, would I have to replace anything. I don't really know anything about turbo, so if I need to buy something thats not included I need to know. Also whats a safe boostage to run for the car. It's got almost 100,000 miles, so I don't wanna run it TOO hard, but at the same time I want to have fun. Well any help would be appreciated. John

I would suggest a rebiuld before boosting. Now for the parts, you will have to replace the header with a turbo manifold and the intake will be of no more use. Also you will need to upgrade the exhaust to a 3" for best flow with a turbo. Read up on turbo's here http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

arghh, I was kinda guessing id have to do a rebuild first. I don't really want to do that yet, so is there any other interesting mods that I should do first (that wouldn't be pointless once i get the turbo?). I don't really care about appearence, because it looks clean with the exterior mods presently done (lowered, altezzas, euro fronts, etc.). Thx

Hey Whtteg, I have a Saab 900 TURBO. On the first turbo site, it says the saab uses the t3. mine is a 88 is this still true? If it is, what would i have to do to move the turbo from the saab to the teg? Is this practical? Before I start rambling on more i'll let you answer these. LOL thx.

Why don't you just keep it natural aspiration and add on to what you have with parts such as an intake manifold, pulley kit, hotter ignition kit, then some engine dress up or a fluidyne radiator. That would be a wicked set-up!

yeah rebuild your internals because if you already have such a high mileage and u boost more than 8psi, u'll have to replace stuff soon or get a new motor. increase the bore. the exhaust would be the only thing of use that u can keep. you dont need intake or headers. you'll need bov wastegate injectors manifold turbo itself piping intercooler. if you dont know anything about turbochargers why do you want to get one???????????? i have a gsr too and im either gonna have my internals rebuilt and turbo or go supercharger which is more gsr compatible. and may lean toward supercharger for autox purposes. so it also depends what you'll be doing with the car drag...cornering...etc. look into turbo lag also. search the threads!

When I said I didn't know anything about turbos, I meant the stuff that goes along with them. I have a Saab Turbo, so I know how they function and everything. I dunno, my saab has well over 100k miles, and it handles it's turbo perfectly fine. Acuras are built much better, and it has less miles. Well if whtteg thinks I should wait, then I'd better (considering he knows a lot more then I do). About the rebuilds, about how much does that cost? thx

I think you can get a rebuild kit for like $600+ but the labor is what will kill you. Probably $1,500 in labor, maybe more.

Yeah I was guessing it was high :O. If the guy did his oil changes when he was supposed to, and I get it checked and there is not that much engine wear, should I go for it? Cuz just looking at the engine bay, it is extremely clean. Everthing looks and sounds exactly where it should be. I dunno, I wanna turbo bad, but if I rebuild I'd have to wait prolly another year

You need to do a leak down test anlong with a compression test. Get a shop to do it if you don't know how. If everything is in good shape then go for it but keep the boost low 8psi daily and 10psi track day. As for the rebuild, if you are going to rebuild the motor go ahead and get low compression forged pistons and some good rods. Also I would get some ARP heaa bolts and hondata, I would not even think about getting a FMU, go hondata and have it tuned at a shop and it will work much better and safer.

First off why would u get headers and intake if u are going to get a turbo. you take these parts off to put turbo on. if u want to keep these parts on ur car then ur best bet is a supercharger. i have a 95 gsr turbo with 150,000 runing 6 pounds on stock internals. the kit i would recommend is revhard or drag kit. and thermal 3inch exhaust. but if u do get a turbo try not to turn up boost too much with stock internals and be prepared to have a back up vehicle.

Thx turboteg, I didn't know it was different with a S/C. If I do go that route, I'm deffinately not gonna go with Jackson, I've heard a lot of crap on their product. However, I at least know a little bit about turbos, while I know nothing obout a s/c so it looks like I have my work cut out for me =)
