oil leak
my friend has a 95 sohc 4 door neon and every time he parks it leaves about a 2 1/2 inch puddle of oil not a major leak like in the other post i read my dad thinks its the main seal because we've jacked it up and pulled the oil pan put gasket compound on thinking it was just coming out of there but it still leaks. Anyone know where it might be leaking from? and if it is a main seal how much will it cost

Same thing is happening to mine, but Im wondering how much it will cost to fix or how hard it would be to do yourself...cause seals arent that expensive.

Re: oil leak
well, you will have to pull the engine out to replace the main seals

Re: oil leak
If its on the driver side, you might want to check the cam sensor. Mine had a leak there and it took about a month to find it.

Re: oil leak
not if the wires are disconnected. if the sensor itsself is loose, it will most likely loose more oil driving than parked due to how high the sensor is. If thats where he is leaking, when parked, it'll leak only the oil that is above that point on that wall of the motor.
if it is removed, the car won't start due to the pcm not getting a timing signal.

Re: oil leak
My friends dad is a certified mechanic and he replaced my head gasket about 5K miles ago, and now my oil is leaking and I told him that and he says its probably the head gasket again. He hasnt even looked at it so I think hes just being a stupid ass. He never got the camshaft sensor connected so my Check Engine light has been on since then. Whether he knows that may be leaking oil or not, Im not sure. It surely shouldnt be the damn gasket again though. And if someone has a diagram of where the sensor is or the rear oil seal, please link to them, thatd be cool.
