Unhappy Clutch

I have an 86 mazda pickup and the clutch will not engage. It was not a gradual problem like most clutches go out, but an all the sudden type thing. was just driving along and kaput, clutch gone. I have replaced the slave cylinder and bled the line and still the same thing. I have the haynes repair manual and they mention something about a releas lever return spring which is mounted on the slave cylinder. I did not see one on mine. Are there some models that do not have one or could this be my problem? please reply soon.

Stephen
