Ford Capri Gr.5 "Open Version " in progress

Ford Capri Gr.5

It's this time of the year again. Like in previous years, in this time of
the year I usually start a bigger modeling/modifying project and this year
is no exception. I've choosen to do Tamiya's Ford Capri Gr.5 (Item N°
24014). If you know this model maybe you'll start thinking why this project,
since it's not such a special kit at all.
That part is true of course, but if you've seen my previous big modifying
projects (CLK-DTM and WRC-Subaru), you know what to expect.
The Ford Capri is going to be build like shown in the attached picture of
the real thing, however the model will feature open doors and an opened
trunk as well.
The only addition to this kit will be the etched inserts for the rims.
Everything else will be done scratchbuilding. With this report I'd like to
share with you how I tackle such a big project and this from in the very
beginning.

Have fun with it. I'm looking forward to all comments and suggestions.
Cheers,
Kurtl

If you want a TON of parts that are basically the same as what you're going to be needing there, hunt down the SSP reissue of the Monogram Motorsports Mustang. It's the same basic car, except skinned as a Mustang.

This is the kit to look for. You can usually find them on eBay for cheap.

What an extraordinary project you started!
You're truly engineer or something.
can't wait to see how that Capri would be constructed.
