WIP: Light-weight nismo R32

Ok, I shouldn't have started this one, now i have 4 projects running at the same time, but seeing steeve's and boab's R32 decided me. Actually this project is a training for a future project: the exvitermini GTR-700 R33. As i don't have a R33, i'll try my hands on a R32 drag racer.
The base kit is the fujimi nismo R32 GTR, with the center shell from tamiya kure nismo GTR for the stripped floor, and the RB26 will be from the calsonic R32 also from tamiya. I'm thinking about using BBS wheels, painted gold, but that may change until the end of the progress.

I'd cut out all the body panels:

I also worked on the shell, using the center part of tamiya part, but i had to use fujimi front and rear sections besause the wheel wells are much bigger than the street version, and the whole frame were modified for the race version. Tricky cutting, but now it fits again on the fujimi body.

Underside view:

Everything assembled, with the engine bay started:

And the inspiration here . Pics can be found in galleries/GTR-700.

Nice project. Are you going to paint it a dark purple and have all the engine mods as well the exterior parts?

Re: WIP: Light-weight nismo R32

Not so long ago i was also afraid to cut abything on a kit, but with a panel scriber and a good cutting disc, it's really easy. I think it'll be a lot harder to make the shell look one-piece made and remove the side exhaust relief on it. Without speaking about stripped inner panels...
I'll probably have a lot of fun and head-scratching with this one for sure !

BTW if anyone have good reference pics of the side panels, especially the rear ones, feel free to pm me or to post links, as i didn't make much research yet.

D_LaMz : I won't fully replicate the real GT-700 as this one isn't a R33, but the engine will be close to that (hopefully !)

Re: WIP: Light-weight nismo R32

this looks like its gonna be awesome when its finished.
When are you gonna start GTR700. That car is insane...the sound it makes it crazy. Its not bad to see an australian built car as the 3rd fastest GTR in the world.
Keep it up. I'm loving this build already.
peace, WIDE

Well i don't really know either . The idea is to make a street-to-race conversion, and learn how to do it better for when i'll start the real exvitermini R33 replica. That's why i didn't use the tamiya engine bay, i keep it for that future project.
