<first off, hello I'm new to this forum>
I got a'93 Grand Am with a 3.3 FI engine and auto transmission. I've had this car since '98 and have put 48,000 of its 128,000 miles on it.
The last few days I've noticed something peculiar when backing up. If the car is cold it goes into reverse and backs up just find. But after the car warms up it's not so easy--I have to give the car extra gas to get it to move. It's as if it's stuck in neutral but it's not.
Like I said, this just happened over the last week and I haven't had a chance to check into it. I just had some ATF lines replaced with the fluid topped off so it can't be a lack of fluid problem It shifts fine in drive so as long as I can move forward I can adapt and cut down my reversing. But still I'd be very interested in what's going on.
Any assistance I can get from any fellow Grand AM (personally, it's the best car I've ever owned) owners would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping to get a quarter of a million miles on this Grand Am before replacing it--and then probably with another Grand Am. Something works I stick with it.
Thanks, Scott I. (
