The Silvia's we get are n/a, but they're Japanese spec. cars, which are bought in to the country, generally in poor condition through shady second hand dealers. All the "Silvia's" (rebadged 200SX) sold new here came with the SR20DET from the factory (like they did in Australia, and England too I believe).

But I see your point, you don't have to have a turbo to have a 'Silvia'. I was just clarifying that all the NZ spec. cars have turbos

Theres a good chance I need correcting, but I thought the Silvia was JDM version of our 240SX, not the 200SX. The 200SXs I've seen were crappy little Civic-type cars. Someone fill me in.

read the rest of this thread before you post questions that have already been answered .... dayna already said that the (200sx) were sentra like cars, also they said that the 200sx is the same as a 240 in new zealand and i think australia as well.

In response to the thread i think that swapping the badges is ok if you had the sr or rb... but i wouldn't do it anyway.

Also England had 200SX's with the same spec. as the Australia and New Zealand cars, and I think the rest of Europe had them too (although they're as rare as hens teeth).

The NZ and Australia spec. cars were identical with the S13, S14 and S14a (roughly 200-220hp SR20DET), but when the S15 came around, New Zealand got the more powerful (250hp) engine, whereas Australia still only had 220hp to play with, mainly due to New Zealand having no emmission laws currently. I'm sure not complaning though

re:

to really get into this... it doesn't matter if a s13/14 is a silvia, a 240sx, 200sx, even a 180sx! (SILeighty for that matter) it's all originated back in the homeland japan. so anyone has the right to put a silvia badge. oh yeah, WHO CARES IF IT'S N/A OR TURBO? ever heard of silvia J's, Q's, and K's???? start studying people, because those badges(j q and k badges) count more than you think. and silvia badges are just silvia badges. it denotes that the car is a s14. so does a 240sx or 200sx. WHO CARES! it's just for interest(moreover, probably pimpin yo ride). i would rather stress on which model(J's Q's K's) it is representing than the "appropriate" name of the car. how about a bmw 323 using a 540i badge? get me? er bad example.. HAHA but you get the idea. oh i know what. an integra gs with a SE (special edition) badge... that's something to complain about right there. on a note about the integra with the honda sign... it doesn't hurt to put a honda on an integra... it's a friggan HONDA too! lol... but seriously, i think this topic focused on the wrong type of badging. to be honest, this topic is pretty typical. read your books, and read them well, and then elaborate... breathe in, breath out.... class dismissed.

you're all wrong

it's not a silvia unless it came that way from the factory, and it never will be. the badging of a silvia came on the silvia because it is a silvia. no matter what you do to your 240, it's just not gonna be one. don't fake the funk, yo.

Pshychedelicbeats has a point it would make it more interesting if you put the different badges on like J or Q make it more specific to your car. I saw some Q badges on ebay. I didn't know what it meant before, i do now though.

Re: Badge Swappin Goodness

WHO CARES?! i'm running points across here that seems more sensible. many people got a cork stuck up their ass and go all technical, but it's all just about personal interest. seriously though, ANYONE AND EVERYONE would live in japan for the real shit. but guess what? many of us don't! so what are we doing over "here"? motor swaps and all this JDM shit. even buying the chassis from japan and importing it separately with the motor. everything's authentic alright, except that it's still not in its ORIGINAL off the factory form. it's pieced together and shit. and if "originality" is what you're looking at, look somewhere else. so what difference is there between a motor and a badge? (except the price difference) absolutely nothing. same concept... be careful what words you put into other people's mouths. rb25.... nice "setup" with a 240.

"no matter what you do to your 240, it's just not gonna be one[silvia/sileighty/RB25SKYLINE/etc]. don't fake the funk, yo."

Re: Re: Badge Swappin Goodness

also, i've read on that zenki models have their silvia badges on the right side (as with the 200sx and its badge) and with the kouki model on the left. is that true? or is it this just ausie specs?

listen up newbie, don't go freaking out about this. especially for me voicing my opinion.

"OK, it seems this debate needs its own thread. The question: whether or not you think it is OK to swap the 240SX badges to Silvia ones once the SR20DET is in."

that's what this whole thread is about, whether or not you THINK it's okay. it's opinion. i voiced mine, so back the fuck off. i didn't attack you or anyone else for theirs, hell i even put in a smiley to show that i had good humor about it. you're the one with "a cork stuck up your ass."

and i wasn't "getting all technical," either. it's either a silvia or not, depending ONLY on if it came that way from the factory. thats straight forward and simple, not getting all tricky and technical. i dont think you should badge a car that does not correspond to the badges, and i'm not an asshole to the people who do anyways.

edit* and yeah, i'm putting an RB25 in my 240. i'm not going to badge it as a silvia, cause it's not one. it will never be one. i don't wish for it to be one, i don't care if it ever is one. which brings us to our end point: it doesn't matter what the fuck you do to your car, as long as you like it. put honda badges on it for all i care, i was just making a point.

Red face Re: Re: Re: Badge Swappin Goodness

you didn't "attack" me? are you blind?
"you're all wrong"

well guess what? WHO CARES?! i have a voice of opinion also. why do you think i am also able to opinionize myself on this board? why is there even a board to start out with? you called me wrong, yet i never even started to call you wrong. i never even directly criticized you about your opinion, in exception that only originality was an issue to your reply. please discuss your thoughts thoroughly. good for your rb25. and i want a silvia badge for my car too. if you simply don't care[as you say], please don't respond. come to think of it, if you didn't care in the first place you wouldn't have replied in such way. i'm just 18 years old and running into college. on top of that, i don't think i would want to mess with an older guy for morality's sake. and time is short for a student. you can't buy a skyline but a rb25 to swap onto a 240, and it is just your personal interest to do so. am i missing something? i end this debate. the moderator can delete whatever's offensive to the board if you would like. thumbs up over here; confirm, over.

me =

alright newbie, whatever. i'm done spamming the forum with this dumbass argument that i didn't want in the first place. if you wanna keep being bitchy about a stupid ass comment, then pm me.

you know i was thinking, isn't it the VIN number that makes a car? not a motor, not a badge, not anything besides that. if the VIN is registered as "silvia," then that's all that makes it one. man this topic is old lol. im done talking about it.
