Badge Swappin Goodness

OK, it seems this debate needs its own thread. The question: whether or not you think it is OK to swap the 240SX badges to Silvia ones once the SR20DET is in.

Personally, I think any badge swap is appropriate once the J-spec engine is in. True there are still differences in body and interior, but the engine is the soul.

I feel there is also a valid argument to be made for debadging altogether. Nissan put the 240 together the way they saw fit, let em keep the name once you make the car your own.

isn't the silvia still a 240 so would it make a difference just b/c it's from a 240 of a different year

but if u wanna get technical....ur 240 is a s13 which is a silvia in Japan and ur just putting JDM badges on it ....so it wouldn't matter if u put it on there if u had the swap or not

the silvia is n/a is new zealand so you dont really have to do the sr20det swap to put the badges on.

I dont see what the big deal is, it's the same thing as putting honda badges on an integra.

i'd say just keep your 240 badges or debadge your car. i debadged my civic when i dropped in a b18b (i wasn't about to put integra ls badges on it). i don't have anything against anyone who rebadges there 240 w/ silvia badges, but i think having the 240 badges is fine enough. that way when my car is fast enough to kick ass people will be like , " what kinda car is that?" and someone will say a 240sx. they'll problably be amazed since its not known as a fast car. rather then some being like its a silvia and they"re like, "what the hell is that?"

Isn't that the point though? To make peolple say, "What the hell is a Silvia?" That was certainly my reaction the first time I saw a kitted out S14 with Silvia badges.

that is kinda cool, because 99% of people on the road don't know what a silvia is. and i have to say the silvia badging looks a lot better on s14's and s15's than it does on s13's. i like the curvy letter stuff.

only if i changed the look of the car to match the silvia specs then i would add the badges after it gets painted with the new exterior parts on.

and i probably would leave it badge-less till i get the sr cause then it wouldnt be close enuff to a real silvia.

but then again, its not RHD either... damn, decisions decisions.

Go on, be really tricky! Put 200SX badges on it. Then no one in the whole of north America will know what you're driving

Not true. All the 200SX's (Silvias) sold new here came with the SR20DET as standard. That is of course, if that second 'is' you said was supposed to be a 'in'

Well I talk to a guy (Toksin) from New Zealand and he told me the silvia was N/A.

And we do have a 200SX's in america. They are basicly the same as a sentra. So it wouldnt be tricky, it would just be dumb.

no I actually think it would be the thing to do if you have a SR20DET engine in your car....... plus only a few people who know about it will know what your implying when u have a 240sx with 200sx badges on it.

yep. 200sx's here are low model 240's that are cheaper and don't have much bling at all. it would be like lowering yourself if you put those on.

in nz that would be a different story. no one here knows about the 200sx thing in nz, all they know is about the cheap 200's in the us.

I think this can all be settled by a simple quote from out beloved Eric Cartman...

"Whateva, I do what i want...."
