thinking about a CRX Si-convince me

OK, here's the deal. I get $4000 for a car. I'm thinking about a 2nd gen CRX Si. I can get one for about 2500-3000, and that leaves me plenty of money to make it faster. I'm asking 3 things.
1. Why should I get this car?
2. What are the first mods I should do to it?
3. About what is the cost for
a) a b16a1 swap
b) a b18b swap
If anyone is curious, the other cars I'm considering are a 1st gen 300zx turbo, Ford Taurus SHO, 1st gen Toyota MR2, 2nd gen Toyota Supra, and 1st gen Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo.

OK well i would say its a easy pick for the CRX
1) light nice looks fun to drive
2) intake lowering wheels exhaust
3)swap will be about the same B16 being a bit more but i'd vote for that over a B18b.
Also your looking into some other cool cars but I'd say the rex will be cheapest to insure and maintian.

spacemanspiff?? Hey I know a band called spacemanspiff.... I actually played drums with them for a little bit...

Well, if I were you I'd get a 91 civic hatch... but I may be a little biased... But a crx is not a bad choice...

I'd get one cheap on autotrader... then look for a b16... I used to see them on ebay all the time...there are plenty of other places in Miami that import engines for a good price. Then if you cant do the swap yourself.. go to A&H automotive in Delray to put it in for you. They just did my y8 swap and it came out great.

Good luck...and if this is the same S M Spiff that I know let me know if you need anymore help with this...

Jack

About how much money is a b16a1 swap though? Can I get a CRX Si and still have enought money for the swap? If I can do that, I'd go with it over the 300zx (my first choice so far otherwise), but if I can't, I find a 19/1 lb/hp ratio a bit much. 107 horses just isn't very much, no matter how light the car is. When I looked at autotrader, it had crxs for about 3000, and there's no way I can get a b16 swaped in there for 1000. I don't have the recources to do the swap myself, I'll have to pay someone to do it for me.

b16 swap is roughly $2000-$3000 to get it swapped in by a shop.

Look for something other than an si. It will save you money. If you are that bent on a sunroof then look for an 88, If you can find one cheap you could still have enough for a swap if you buy lisa's, Save a little money and pay someone to stick it in the car for you.

Don't waste money on the Si. If you're going to swap, get the lighter HF. Better hp/weight ratio. And it's cheaper.

Good luck making the car fast for $1000.

The CRX would be the most resonable car but I would go for the Supra or Z. No SHO, lol c'mon now, those Yamaha engines are a pain in the ass to work on. Eclipse wouldn't be a bad choice either.

hey the sho's are damn good cars, and they have alot of potential too (the yamaha's are nice in tempo/topaz's too )

but as for the civic, get a 4 door, slight weight difference but worth it when you see the look on people faces when you fly by them... and 3 other people see too
