In California they leave out SOHC VTEC engines in hopes people will steal them. They are worth no more than $500. They bolt right in for the most part. Wiring is the hard part, I've heard it's like 50 wires, but if you know where everything is supposed to go it's no big deal.

Doing it yourself is a great way to learn, if you take your time.

it is a really easy install. as easy as replacing the engine you have. the abg. install price should be around $500. i say plan to take 2 or 3 days....take your time and do it we can all help talk ya through it if you get in a trouble spot

isnt that the truth. I have also learned a lot from just reading what everyone has said in here. I have't got that much experience with a lot of it, but one day I shall. I am good with wiring though, wired up a bunch of things in cars that I didn't know exactly what wire was what. Done that with too many radios, dumbasses who cut the damn wire harness. I want to shoot everyone of them....well in the leg....or foot....or big toe, big toe would be good, it would be funny.....oh sorry...im rambling....damn i need to go to sleep.....AF so addicting.....damn

the engine will bolt right in using your stock transmission/clutch/pressureplate/flywheel. If you have an HF or Si model, all you have to do is run the wiring to activate VTEC. a DX on the other hand will have to be converted to MPFI which if you do a search on this forum you will find detailed instructions.

SOHC VTEC is a very good engine swap. You will feel a lot of power over your stock engine. Good Luck, and dont forget to ask for help if you need it.

I don't live in California so I can't "steal" them. But the Import Scene is obviously the biggest there and the 6th Gen Civic is the most popular and the EXs had SOHC VTEC and 5th Gen Civic EXs and Sis had SOHC VTEC. So everytime those cars go in for B16As and stuff they have all these engines left over.
