Okay this is going to be about the 1,000,000th argument about which is better and how the Type R is good for nothing but the BLING factor. I'd say get what you want and don't listen to everyone here because everyone will tell you something different. If you still need insight I suggest you read all the other posts like this one.

I a B16a2 and I'm happy just be careful where you get it from, I found that out the hard way. Or get a b18c either way you'll be happy but if you get the B16a2 get the LSD trans trust me its soooooo worth it!!!!

Id go with the b16a too.....I bought mine a few weeks ago and waiting to take in my car for my appointment on 3/29/03 to get it installed....Im just hoping I payed for a good engine and not a blown one....I mean i watched it come off the truck from Japan but ya never know....It all cost me no more then 2200$ thats 2 months worth of spending money and getting all parts tranny,ecu,axles...... I found it to be easy because there the most popular engine so if one place doesnt have something in stock for it another place will!!! So id go with the b16!!
And once I have my engine installed and see the difference in a CX to my new si dohc engine then ill letcha know how impressed i am..... |

Did you get the LSD trans? I love mine, have your water pump and timing belt changed when they put you engine in, trust me its a little more but its better than getting everything together than finding out you have to change it all. Let me know how you like it

If you can afford it go for the type R,it is a hella nice motor. But otherwise a GSR or a B16A2 (96-99 siRII (not the 99-00 si it is OBD IIb).Both are good.
