Which engine swap do you think is the best in 1996-00 Civic? Include in your decision that money is almost no object... but don't include the B20 or anything too crazy (c-series V-6s, NSX engines, etc.)

I would say the H22a, simply because it has the most torque (around 165ft lbs) and power. All the others have less than 130ft lbs. A friend has a '97 GSR and you have to wind it to 4K to keep up with most big V-6 and V-8 minivans and SUV's in traffic. His 94ex Accord with the f22 kept up better. Life without torque would suck.

i would go with the b18c5. the itr engine. the h22 is too heavy for a civic and the wieght distribution would be way off. you would have to replace the front axles with the h22. the itr engine produces the same hp and would fit a lot better.so my choice is the b18c5 itr engine.

of course you would need to change the axles. you are going from 127hp to 200 hp...very little torque (forgot the number) to 167 lb/ft. the civic axles aren't gonna hold. for the h22 you will want to look into a good quality full coil over suspension with different spring rates. sway bars and strut bars. you are lookin at another almost 200 lbs. if you have a stereo system with a big box, it will help even out the weight distribution some. this is the swap i plan on doing. i have talked to several guys who havn't had much problem

That H22 you included in the poll seems a little crazy for the engine bay of the 6gen. I would go witht he B18 (GSR). It's easier to add a turbo to it than it is the Type R B18

Of course my vote is going to be biased, but I would go with the B18C1!

Hey why not the b20b? It is basically the same engine as the b18b or ls. If your looking for just all around fun for the money get one of the those. But if your into driving a car with some fun get a b18c1. The b16a has no torque, the h22a is too heavy (except for drag racing) and the b 18c5 is too expensive(unless you really are racing then its the best deal)

:hehehe: What the hell is wrong with your friends GSR? Is it running in 3 cylinders or something. Never heard that before. Oh and his Accord's better? So an Accord that runs 17's on the track performs better than a GSR that's rated at high 15's stock? :hehehe:

I was talking about everyday driving. On the road, not trying to speed away from everyone. No TQ till about 5K. His car runs like new. 0-60 in 7.1 and 0-100 in 18.9.
