Engine swap

Ok ive read through many threads on engine swap and i have a question. Right now i have a 98 honda civic coupe DX automatic. I was wondering what would be an ideal engine swap if i wanted to get a nos kit, n-tercool kit and a turbo kit eventually? Also would it be best to do a tranny swap aswell or try and make a bulletproof auto?\

Thanx

If you have the $ I would say get a b20 block , build the bottom end and put a GSR head on it. Also get a integra LS manual tranny. Then get a turbo and boost away. I think your civic would be insanely fast. You could really shock some ppl if you keep it stock looking on the outside! :D

If a budget is in order than maybe a b16a you can pick them up for a pretty fair price if you look hard enough.

I don't know alot about the auto trannies that is why i said to get the LS manual tranny. I know they are hella strong and they have a tall gear ratio which will prove useful when high hp is reached.
Hope that helped some, any questions just ask again I always check up on all of my posts.

Thanx for the info. I was thinking before of maybe looking into an LS engine or just the bottom part and doing the LS/Vtec swap. I want to do something that is gonna be FASSTTTT but also be somewhat gas efficient and reliable.

With the B20 swap wouldnt i have to remove the AC?

I am not really sure about that. It is possible that you would but I have not heard anybody say anything about it. If so I would just do the LS/VTEC. Just make sure you get a really good shop to put the motor together I have heard a few horror stories about leaks and such.

If say I had around 250 wheel HP would that get my civic moving?

Eventually I wanna get a 95 up eagle talon tsi AWD and get that to around 500 hp daily driver:)

What do u think would be the max HP i could get outta my engine?

The B20 is from a honda CRV.
And YES, if you had 250 wheel hp your civic would move nicely, very quick! Your civic now probably has around 90- 95 wheel hp, so just think about it more than doubled! I'd say low 13's in the 1/4 if you can drive good.

Any suggestions on the best way to put myself above 200 wheel HP without dropping ALOT of money?

Sorry that is just about impossible to do cheaply.
What is the size of your budget?

I dont really have a budget, im just trying to get an understanding of every aspect of putting my car together and try and see how much money im gonna need to get for each part of the car.

Would it be easier to go with the B20 block or get a teg LS block and go from there to build the kinda HP i need.

Thanx again for the help......they should get a rating system for most helpful users:)

The best thing in your case then would be to go to all the shows and races that you can find and ask ppl what they have and how they are like it and so on. Then yo could get a real feel for what you want and you will know what to avoid. Hope this helped guide you so not to make a wrong choice that you will be unhappy with.

I would hope you are talking about a low compression godly motor. B/c high compression all motor setups and turbo don't mix at all! Things break and go boom!

what would be a good base motor to start building a low compression N/A motor with future plans of installing a turbo and nos kit?

I have a friend who has a auto LS teg and he had azex n2o kit. It was pretty quick, but not nearly as fast as manual tegs with n2o. But the auto's are so much nicer to drive in trffic like here in Atlanta lol.

There are so many pros and cons of going with an auto but it just makes driving that much easier......sepcially on a lazy day.

I've looked at stuff from like level 10 cause they are suppose to be the automatic trans. specialists or whatever. Im thinking of either keeping my auto trans. and building it up and maybe getting one of those auto to manual things that allows u to shift when u want.

Let me know ur suggestions.....one reason i also think the b18B would be good for me is cause its the only model that comes with an auto
other than the H22:)
