Hasegawa Lancer Evo III Progress
Ok here we go! after finishing setting up my workshop and my white Fujimi MR2 this is my first documented build up project to go on this forum.
The subject of this this project is a Hasegawa Lancer EVO III, last week i cleaned up the body, there was a fair bit of mould lines and a few imperfections which was kinda weird for a Hasegawa kit, i have built a lot of their aircraft in the past and usually its pretty good, i guess im just getting too picky. that said I sprayed the body with Tamiya's Brilliant Orange. The body is now ready to be polished after waiting 8 days for the paint to dry,I hate having to wait for paint to fully cure but i think this makes or breaks a project, iused to rush painting my bodies and end up screwing it up. ![]() I have also opened up all openings in the front bar since it was molded closed,im planing to replace the Hasegawa supplied mesh with some spare Tamiya mesh because it just look wrong and out of scale. ![]() Just a shot of the rear ![]() The polishing will start tomorrow, the paint didint turn out too bad so i guess i wouldnt have to do too much. if all goes well i will get started on lowering the car, this thing rides like a bus plus the supplied wheel is a joke, it looks like a set of 14'inch wheels about as wide as a bicycle tyre. Unsure what sort of wheels i want to put on this thing yet,ive got a nice set of Fujimi brembo brakes that i want to put on this baby, so i think a 5 spoke of somekind would be the pick. |

Hi guys, It has been raining here in Sydney since last Saturday, perfect weather for modeling, well as long as your not spraying car bodies i guess. All is going well so far, no major probs.
I have started polishing and detailing the body, all window surrounds and panel lines have been blacked out. Since the window pillars were black i found that when i looked at the car there was too much black in the middle of the car and there was too much yellow everywhere else, so i decided to give the bottom lip of the front bar a full carbon fibre treatment.I have also added some finer Tamiya mesh in the front vents replacing the Hasegawa mesh which looked out of scale. I also quikly dummied up a new intercooler with some styrene and bare metail foil to fill up the front mouth of the Evo, since standard kit intercooler was about a size of a toaster, this is not final yet i just wanted to see how it would look filling up the whole front end, i have seen some cars where you only see the core of the intercooler and not the end tanks. Do you think this looks right if i was to do the same on this evo?? im still to add the piping which you will be able to see in the on the left and right vents. ![]() The rear wing panel also recieved the carbon treatment, just to even things out. ![]() Thats it so far,im relatively pleased on that way its going, still a few polishing tweaks to do on the body, then i will get started on chassis and interior soon. |
