1992 Blazer Starting Issue
Hoping someone can help out with my friends car. Im going to help him with it in the morning and i want to be prepared. He was driving it doing errands and when he got back in it to start it, he turned the key to on, says the key slipped and sprung back to the off position like it should, but after that the engine light stays on and the car will crank but wont start, just turns and turns.
He has already pulled the carb apart and says he cannot smell any gas. He's asking about the fuel pump and doesnt know where to look. Is it under the hood or is it under the rear seat like alot of passanger cars? Also, I'm thinking he should hear a click from the fuel pump relay or actually hear the fuel pump come on and prime for a few seconds, but he says the fuel pump never made noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I asked him to get a can of carb cleaner to see if the car would startwhen you spray some int the carberator, but nothing like that is available at the moment. |

Re: 1992 Blazer Starting Issue
Just an update that should be really helpful. We did the test with the carb cleaner, found out it wasnt getting fuel. We disconnected the fuel lines from the throttle body and there is no fuel there either.
The Blazer is a carbuerated model with an electronic fuel pump, not a manual. 4.3 Liter TBI engine I believe. According to the Chilton's manual, the only way to access the fuel pump is by dropping the gas tank and lifting it out the top. We also tried replacing the fuel pump relay, but that had no effect. Before dropping the gas tank and doing what may be unneccesary work, does anyone know where the fuse is for the fuel pump. We could not find a fuse box inside the engine compartment and the only fuse box assembly we could find under the drivers dash didn't seem to have anything marked fuel. Is there a fuse would be a better question and if so, where are they hiding it? |
