Too much oil?

Hello. 93 with a non-supercharge. Changed the oil, and filter. Added 5 quarts. Looks high on the dipstick. Added 5, I think, at last change also. Does this car only take 4 quarts? Have i hurt anything? Should I drain a quart? Do anything else?

Thanks.

Re: Too much oil?

I think the engine takes only 4.2 qts of oil.Used to own a Olds 88 royal,1994.Drain one qt out and check dip stick. Have a good day! Diesel1962

Re: Too much oil?

No need to drain anything, an additional 1/2 qt will not hurt anything.
