Oil leak, possibly from too much oil?

I noticed my car has a little oil leak and was wondering if it is because there is too much oil. I checked my oil and it was about a quarter inch above the fill line (the 2nd notch)

I am hoping that is the case, if it is not what should I do?

Thanks

Best to fill to the correct level, but that won't cause leaks.
You need to find the source and correct it if you want to stop the leak.
Common areas:
Valve cover gasket, (when the valve cover is off probably a good idea to also change the PCV valve grommet, and check spark tube seals)
Distributor O ring
Oil pan seal
Front oil seals: crankshaft, oil pump (O ring and cover gasket), less common camshoft oil seal
