Oil leak, possibly from too much oil?
I noticed my car has a little oil leak and was wondering if it is because there is too much oil. I checked my oil and it was about a quarter inch above the fill line (the 2nd notch)
I am hoping that is the case, if it is not what should I do? Thanks |

Best to fill to the correct level, but that won't cause leaks. You need to find the source and correct it if you want to stop the leak. Common areas: Valve cover gasket, (when the valve cover is off probably a good idea to also change the PCV valve grommet, and check spark tube seals) Distributor O ring Oil pan seal Front oil seals: crankshaft, oil pump (O ring and cover gasket), less common camshoft oil seal |
