Damn squeaking noise.

when I first start my car one of the pulleys squeaks like hell then once it gets warm it does fine. I think it might be the A/C compresser. I have thought of taking the belt off but that would disable my defroster (so I have been told) Does anyone know for sure if it will?

Noise

That noise is a belt and it could be either the alternator or the A/C belt. See if either or are loose a bit and tighten them up. Go ahead and rip the A/C if it dosen't work, and no it won't affect your defroster, your heater does the defrosting.

Te A/C works but it looks like its got leaves stuck behind the pulley...those might make it squeak. The altenator is new so I dont think thats it I squirted some open gear lube in the altenator behind the pully, where the shaft is and that help till it got cold again...

My Wifes Crustang squeaked for awhile. I used some stuff called belt dressing on the belts. So far so good, and it's in the 20's here.

i had the same deal with mine. it made a cricket chirping type noise until warming up. tried spaying something on the belt & still the noise was there. Narrowed down to the alternator which wasn't hard because it has no P/S or A/C. the alternator is very simple to change well not simple but pretty easy
