Cool '91 intake cam in a '96 G20

I recently swapped a '91 intake cam in place of my '96 intake cam. Has anyone else done this swap and dynoed the differences. I did not have the availability to dyno a before and after to see how much of a difference this swap made in the torque and HP curve from stock.

Sport Compact has a fully detailed article on this swap, but they put a '98 cam into a '91 engine to assume what the differences might be, and I do not think this was the best way to show the dyno results.

I'd check out SE-R.Net It is documented on this site in a couple places i think. A 6hp gain is what is stuck in my head, but I could be wrong. And it'll react different on every car, depending on the model year of the car they are going in, and the condition of the cams that are being installed, if that makes sense. My question would be, does it feel faster? If so then great, if not, then i'd go look for a dyno. Actually, either way a dyno wouldn't be bad, i'm sure with some timing changes you could find a couple more hp, free if you're already running 92 octane. I found 6hp on my last trip to the dyno Good luck and I hope this helps.

'91 Cam

Thanks for the info.

Actually, I have some upgrades on the car already. I have installed a Stillen/K&N hiflo intake that I removed from my NX2000 when I sold it and I bumped the timing to 17 degrees and the intake cam was a new one that I ordered online through www.nissanparts.cc

I most definitely feel the difference, especially around 3500-4000 RPM. I am glad I did the swap. I just wanted to see what the average gains were for others.
