Audiobahn best buy?

I'm on a VERY tight budget and all I got is $120 bucks for some subwoofers. Audiobahn has some 12's that are 400 R.M.S, which seems like alot of bang for the price. I need 2 subwoofers and they seem like the best bet. I looked them up on pricegrabber.com and $47 bucks foor one is great. I have a DHD 1000W amp, (ntx-2136), to run them, is audiobahn my best buy?

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

I wouldn't touch it even with a 10 ft pole. The only audiobahns i would get is the linear compression, just cuz it's great as a paperweigh.

Why not save up just a tad more and you can have a wider selection and better quality with better sound quality? Its worth it in the end if you ask me.

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

Why do you "need" 2 subwoofers? I have a few suggestions up my sleeves, but I know you don't want to hear this, but can you return the DHD amplifier, It's a 4 channel right? Well you can get a profile 2 channel for the same cost, that will do a whole lot more bang for the buck. Are you wanting 2 for the box that you already have? If not, I would go with one woofer http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_aud...vers/shiva.htm
and use a CA800 Profile California amp from www.thezeb.com to power it. You can go with the audiobahns, but I think you will not be as pleased with 2 of them as one of these, and especially not pleased with that amplifier. 2 of these http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep2/12kx.htm would be very happy with the same CA800 amplifier. Audiobahn wise, I can recommend AW1200X from www.thezeb.com and that is about it.

My amp is a 2 channel, I needs something thats gonna give me the head turning, best bang for my buck? I have no job so its hard to get money, but i am willing to save up to 200 bucks to buy some speakers. But dont you think that amp will work fine? 1000W, 2 channel, I will run 8 guage to it and i got 12 guage speaker wire. Everything I own (Car Audio)

Rockford F. 8 guage
Dual 12'' subwoofer box (unported)
1000W DHD Amp ntx-2136

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

that amp will not put out 1000 watts. The most being 200 (exaggerating a bit i guess). If you had 1000 watts, then 8 gauge would not support that amp.

As for the subs, save up til $180 or so and get a pair of 12" Elemental Design Kx-series. $85 each+shipping and its quality. Sounds VERY nice and you won't find anything that will touch that for the price.

By the way your suggesting me subwoofers, The subs you recommend seem like the are great for sound quality. I want hard hitting bass. I understand that quality is a factor in some cases, but SQ is not what I'm concerned about, i want something that will like I said, BOOM.

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

I don't understand why people want loud bass even if it sounds terrible. I had a system that did that at one point, it's no fun to listen to, even if you like loud bass. It gets old, you can't listen to music without it sounding like utter crap. It completely ruined rock music for me, the only thing I could listen to without it sounding horrible was rap, and only about half of the songs.

I hope all you listen to is test tones and rap with no quick beats, because that's all that will sound "good"

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

Dude, the DHD IS A POS, they over rate, and they rate in max, the rms on that according to them is probably about 500wrms, which is relatively about 200 or 300 watts, sorry to say. You should sell it for 100 if you can get that, and go get a profile ca800, I can't say anything good about that amp, I am not trying to be mean, it sucks though, it is made out of bad parts and doesn't power well at all.

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

I'd get an audiobahn 15" sub, ported at whatever the local shop will sell you a prefab ported box at, and then run a CA800 profile amp to it.

Re: Audiobahn best buy?

and that extra little about 70 is still pushing it. Don't forget you probably have to pay for an install.
