Floored a 1st Gen Eclipse going to the store about a half hour ago. All he had was a fart can and a really loud friend to back him up. Easy kill.

it rained/snowed tonight. . .no races for the cavy

tonight i had a short but sweet one...

going down a 2 lane road called hillcrest i got stopped at a light beside a newer model gmc hd truck. BIG truck btw... there were like 3 ppl in it. looked like a family or something. the guy driving was just looking casual. i was in a bit of a rush to get home (head hurts even now as i type) so when the light goes green, i give it a little gas. i guess he thought i wanted to race so he hits it. I mean he's like lenghts ahead of me. I go "oh hell no" and catch up with him. i slow to about 35 and throw out a 3. he floors it, i do too. i hear his ROOOOOAAR.. and i'm holding with him pretty good, i mean he's winning of course, but i'm not being passed by blocks. I let off at about 89 or so because there's traffic coming up (and my rotors are pieces of garbage right now) and he cuts me off and flies down the road, almost hitting a taurus ahead of us. I was like "wth" and just turned....

jerk... but i did do pretty well against him..

The newer GM trucks are pretty tough, for a truck. I had a similar run in with one about 2 weeks ago. It was a Chevrolet 2500HD, extended cab, had some kind of exhaust (loud). Anyways, I was in my truck, and we were the first two vehicles in line at a redlight. Now I thought nothing of it becuase I just wasn't looking for a race (mainly becuase I just don't street race, lol) but also becuase we were just setting there, no rev, no inching up, nothing, just settin there. Light turns green, and this guy just takes off like a bat out of hell! So I mash the gas a little (about 3/4ths throttle), and stop his pull (he probably jumped me a good 2 truck lenghts) at around 55, and sort of stayed there untill 70, and I start to catch him but I think he let up there. So I did too, and that was that.

I really wished I would have known he was gonna take off like that! Not so much for actually having a race other then to just beat him off the lights, lol. He didn't give any sign, just nailed it when the light turned green.

Kind of a different subject, but still involves wierd happenings on the road, but don't you just hate it when you are running at highway speeds, on a four-lane, and come up on a car going slower then you, then when you pass them, the speed up?

This happened to me last weekend, and nearly got me a ticket. It was a late model crown vic (not a cop driving this car BTW), and I'd say it was probably doing 55 or so mph, and I was doing 60. Well, I get along side the car, and can tell its speeding up slightly. So, I do the same and increase my speed to 65 mph. I get out about a truck length on the person, and I notice them creeping back up. So, I hit the gas a little, enough to make my truck shift out of OD, and put about a truck and a half on this person, and let up at about 72 or so mph when I see a KSP (Kentucky State Police) coming (this is a really long straight on US 23 in KY). Now the speed limit is only 55 mph, so I was doing enough over for him to pull me. Luckily, he must have not been running radar, becuase he never even hit is brakes (and I didnt either, just let completely off the gas--didn't wnat to hit the brakes and nose dive my truck to draw attention).

And what really made me mad was after that, the Crown Vic faded back behind me, a considerable distance, and never did get even remotely close to me again.

yea, i especially hate it when it's a two lane becoming a one lane and they decide to do that... trapping people is not cool nor fun.

Raced a 528i on my way to work this morning. My lane was ending and he was swerving around people to be in the front at the light. I put a buslength on him, merged and slowed down. He flew past me.

I had this family try to pass me at like 80mph (on a 55) and I gassed it to 100 and watched their faces. :evillol: HILARIOUS! They were a mix between shocked and pissed-off! Am I an asshole for doing that? Sorry, but I just can't live life being passed by a station wagon. :lol:

I beat a pontiac. I think it was a crossfire when coming back from seeing a movie and made it up to 100. Then I raced a 240sx which was fun. I didn`t even know he wanted to race at first I was just speeding a little and I had an exaust leak at the time so I guess that got his attention. I just saw him coming up on my ass. I smoked him though as soon as I downshifted. It was funny because my brothers friend was with me and my friend told me he looked scared when we were racing, guess he thought I would crash or something.

Not much of a race but I saw a c5 vette do a nice loittle drift while doing a left turn. I also saw a 350z haulin ballz down the street. I forgot how good those sound. Atleast it will keep the thread alive

kept up with some civics with exhaust in my moms contour sport on the freeway

Argh, I gotta pay all of my car insurance today... big dent in my wallet now.

Saw a 2005 Mustang today but she didn't bite. Too bad.

I got a couple small fun ones from a few nights ago while driving in my truck. The truck is an 02 Sierra HD 6.0 liter, basically it just looks like a big heavy slow beast. While driving home at 12:30 AM or so this 02+ neon sxt with a pretty cute girl in it starts pacing me, then she flies by me, slows down and I pass her, then flies by again. So the next time she tries to do another fly-by I let her get ahead a bit and I stomp on it and reel her in pretty quick, pass her, then let off, and she does another fly-by...heh. The light ahead turns red and I pull up next to her and just grinned at her, she was not happy about being beat by a a big chevy. As the light turns green we both mash on it and I got a couple truck lengths on her within a few seconds, let off and she passes me, then I reeled her in again, then let off...I do this a few more times up to around 60-70 mph and she just gives up realizing that I'm having way too much fun playing around with her.

The next one occured right after I was done playing around with the girl. Apparently a guy in a lowered isuzu/mistu (couldnt tell which one) pickup was watching the girl and I messing around and wanted a piece of the action(I guess he figured he'd fair better than her). So he pulls up next to me at the red light I was waiting at, I didnt really notice him cause I was messing around with my radio. Light goes green and he guns it, catching me off-gaurd because he gave no indication of wanting to race. He made it to the other side of the intersection before I realized I was being raced(about 3 of his truck lengths), so I floor the 6.0 liter and pull passed him like he was standing still, get about 2 truck lengths ahead doing 50 or so, then let off. I did the same business that I did to the girl before him, just let him pass me, gassed it, let him pass then gassed again up to 70 or so. After that he got the idea. Whats funny is I don't think either of them got the idea that I was just playing with them untill the third of forth time I pass them up...Hehe.

Lesson learned...don't underestimate the giant truck in the lane next to you, especially when you drive a stock 135hp econobox.

We got a guy with a real nice new Dodge Ram in town. I always wanted a Ram when I was a kid. How much horsepower/torque do they push out now? I think they made a performance-tuned Ram for sale that was real powerful but I forget the trim level...

new ford f-series truck tried today, ... slowest truck i've ever seen , car and driver had them rated at 20lbs per hp and he tried up to 70mph

...and? I haven't seen many "good" F-Series' for a long time. It's not that much of a shock that it sucks.

My truck comes stock with around 320 hp and around 400 trq. The new hemi's are around one hp per cubic inch.

I've also got one from when my camaro was still running good. My buddy and I were cruising around in my 71 ss about 2 years ago on a very nice Morning in spring. While driving we passed up a couple of kids in a very nice red 70-71 chevelle SS with a rag top. They were from the high school I graduated from (I knew they were from there cause I saw the same car parked in the school's lot a couple days later). The setup couldnt have been more perfect either, two very nice older chevy's from around the same year, two ppl per car, NO ONE on the road but us at like 11:30 on a Sat morn. Both cars were also autos, so we started our power braking when the lights to our side were going yellow. His car started to lurch from the trq, and mine started to howl from the turbo spooling up (yes, a 350 with a turbo charger). The sound from these cars both revving up was great. The light turns green, we both launch, he spun his tires for a bit and I got the hole shot on him. I made it across the intersection before he moved more than a few feet. By this time the turbo was working full force, and I recieved nice solid tire chirps from the TM350 tranny, kicking the back out a bit each shift. At about 60 mph I was bus lengths ahead, I figured he'd but up a little better fight but I was wrong. He proceeded to do a nice ricer fly-by on me, my buddy and I both got a good laugh out of that.

i played with a new model GTP on the freeway today, nothing major, i gave up once he turned into one of those stupid dodge through heavy traffic racers. Those are jsut stupid. Then after i gave up, i saw a early model Explorer follow doing the same thing, i was expecting that thing to flip.

one time a few months ago i saw a viper get on it...not hard...but he took off down the street...that was awesome...another time i was in my old car and saw a nice looking fox body, so i revved up a little and he looked over (i had a 1992 Grand Prix with a DTM-style exhaust on it and a cone filter instead of the factory air box). light turned green, i floored it, spinnin tires a little, and i hear the guy spinnin tires. I hear him shift into second, spinnin them again. I hear him shift into third STILL SPINNIN then after spinnin a lil while in third he just let off and drove normally, as did i (i was obviously a few car lengths ahead since he was spinnin tires so much). that was a fun night...

Another time i was in my GP still, and i saw a late 90s TA with what appeard and sounded to be straight pipes. we were makin a left hand turn and i revved up a little bit. he heard me, looked in his rear view mirror, waited for an opening, and slid through the left turn (it was just a left turn, no crossing lanes of traffic), proceeded to fishtail and take off. I was already out on the road floored and he just walked away real fast (the GP was a slow POS...a 2003 V6 mustang walked right past it one time)

i love messin with the big V8s just to see them take off...:-P

...and? I haven't seen many "good" F-Series' for a long time. It's not that much of a shock that it sucks.

I live in a pretty decrepit area, so any cars here are either piles of shit, or they are really nice. Doesn't seem to be any "in-between" area. The only F-Series trucks that pass through are horrible diesel suckers that do nothing more than make noise at 2 in the morning.

I saw a pretty sweet car at my work...it was an 1980's AMG SL mercedes....I had no idea that AMG even tuned the SL mercedes couples in the 1980's....it had a "6.0" badge on the rear and a license plate frame that said "AMG hammer"....my guess is AMG stroked the 5.5 liter V8 from the 560SL to 6 liters...anyone else seen one of these cars?

Well this isnt a race, but its a good go at my truck.

I went crusing the other night and i could never catch a stop light. so finally i pulledo out on to a rural road and stoped. I reved it up to 4,000 and fethered the clutch out nice and smooth. i counted in my head (not the best way) and i got to 60 in around 7-8sec. not bad IMO. i was really moving up untill about 40mph. i need to perfect mt shift points and get one of thoes G-Force things to tell my my real 0-60 1/4 mile and all that good stuff. you can really feel it when it hits its power ban (3,500-5,500) and its pretty easy to keep it there, its just with these shorter gears it tops 6000RPM in 3rd at like 65-70. which means for a 0-60 i am usually about ready to shift into 4th when i hit 60, most cars and some trucks is a 1-2 shift. oh well. i bet i have some decent 60ft times though. maybe even a halft way decent 1/8 mile (for a truck).
lol, i just got a carbon fiber shift knob to match the interior but it has chrome on it. damn it. i have no chrome on my truck at all except for the bumper (my rims are brushed aluminum) and im not really into corrdinating the exterior/interior. im thinking of gettind some paint and painting the chrome flat black or deep gray to match either the shift boot or the lether on the door panels. maybe ill post some pics so you guys can get a better idea of what i am talking about.

What I want is the nice leather shift knob from a Kouki RX-7 Turbo II to put in the Jetta. I've got the Zenki type in my '88, but it's not as nice.

Oh yeah, I raced a Contour today and won. Big deal, I know. Not much to race around here that actually bites the line.

Not a race but....

I was at our local restraunt/bar tonight with my boss and a couple people that come to our restaraunt. They are all NASCAR V8 people and were also drunk as skunks. They also talk a lot of smack about my car being an import and such. You know, errogant A-holes that really don't have a clue. So when leaving, my boss gets it a little with his truck(Dodge Ram 1500 with flows). So I get to about 15mph, push the clutch in a little, rev to about 4.5k and let the clutch out while pressing the gas to the floor. Man the tires spun like hell to aobut 30mph in first. Then I shifted to second and obtained optimal wheelspin. You know, just the right amount of wheelspin with grip to give you one hell of a pull. I was sucked into the seat. 50mph came up pretty quick so I got out of it. It was an awesome feeling like no other. Man I love this car. Once again, a story not worthy of a full thread.

i followed a dropped eg civ hatch and mustang gt. too much traffic to do much but i could tell something would happen if there werent traffic.

A few weeks ago when the torrents of rain were killing Iowa, I got the Jetta to hydroplane on a bridge because, as usual, I was going too fast. Scared the living shit out of me when the front tires lost it, and the rear started sliding out wide to the left... I regained control a few seconds later, but I can guarantee you I was going granny speed all the way home from then on that night!

Anyways... I raced a 2004 Civic LX today on River Road and beat her about 3/4 of the way down. Nothing to write home about. Saw that '05 Mustang again, but again she didn't bite. DAMN IT!

i smoked a kia sephia today.... idiot was swirving through traffic and almost hit me, so at the light i turned up my system (was louder than his :)) and he got mad and started revving... light turned... let's just say that at the next light (about a mile) i had roasted him.

my friend has a eclipse gs-t, and we were racing this lime green turbo honda civic hatch from streetlight to streetlight on a 3 lane road, when we pull up to a light on both sides of a pontiac gto, so my friend and the guy in the civic, who has air bags and keeps popin up and down, keep reving our engines and the gto isnt showing any signs that hes gonna go with us. The light turns green and my friend and the civic take off, about 5 second later, the gto blows by us while we are flooring it and i almost shit my pants. It was no contest.

I was hydroplaning 75% of my trip...it was like the steering wheel had a mind of it's own...seriously the most scared I've ever been in my entire life, and I've done some pretty stupid stuff.

Had my 2nd race, first loss tonight with my Tiburon. Messed around with a Civic that sounded like it had a fart can and 4 spare tires on. Hit a red light, gunned it when it went green. I jumped ahead and stayed a few feet ahead of him till about 3rd gear. Smashed it into fourth and his ass flew past me and got me by about 1 1/2 car lengths at 75mph. Can we say sleeper?! Fun shit though.

Now mind you, this is the first time ive dont a stop launch with my B&M shiftplus kit, it also disables the traction control. So i knew i was gonna spin like hell, but i just wanted to scare this kid. So i punched it, and started to spin, and spin, and spin, the peel out lasted for about 7 seconds untill i regained traction, the whole time the race was actually close, but by the time i regained, i quickly put 2-3 cars on him by 70 MPH and let off. Next light he didnt want to race. . .LOL

mmm that's a pretty brash statement, considering there are VTEC civics that have 127 hp :screwy: And even an Si would have a problem beating a V-6 tib, hell I think it would be a pretty close race.

Sorry to burst your bubble Jayson, but his 3KGT runs about high 14's stock. Simple bolt-ons could put him pretty even with you, if not better than you granted he may be a good driver. I don't know that. I read your Cardomain page, and according to it, you ran a 14.7 with a near perfect shift .5-something-something. It wouldn't be likely that you could just blow his doors off, but I think it would be a really good race either way.

And Twisted, not all cavy drivers are what you claim them to be. Saying what you did earlier goes to show that you are making 3KGT drivers look like cocky SOB's. Every gender of cars has it's idiots and dumbasses. Civics, Tegs, Cavys, Mustangs, you get the idea. Don't be making such assumptions about all drivers. Now simmer down, and don't turn this into some kinda flame war. Just post your races, because the idea is to keep this thread alive as long as possible, and maintain a balance. L8...

my tax return gets mailed on march 11th, ive already got my B&M Shiftplus installed and its made a big difference in the car. The smaller pulley and im betting a 13.9-14.2 1320.

Man, I don't know when my check's coming in, but it's going to my "VR6 Turbo Engine" fund ASAP.

Im confused how I bashed ur car Jayson...I was talking about a Cavalier's in general...yours being the exception because it's the Eaton (correct?)...I realize your Cavalier is faster than my SL 3000GT...I dont think it's the shit...I actally want to get rid of it asap so I can buy the VR4 which I should have by late April. You're taking me all wrong here.

My opinion is my opinion, you can't change it. I don't think these things about the actual people, just the car's. I have plenty of friends that own cars that I bash on all the time, doesn't mean I think i'm better than they are. IMO anything above 14 sec is not fast...under 16 and ur quick..below 14 and ur fast to me..thats my opinion, deal with it :)

For the record since 2 ppl have now somehow appointed me the ambassador of the "F-body community" and the "3S community"...I don't represent everyone's opinion, this is my own opinion...if you can't handle it then tell me off, call me an asshole, or whatever makes you feel better...I can handle it and won't hold it against you.

this was a while back b-4 the hit and run in the srt-4,my brother told me to tail him to a speed shop so i can take him home after we leave his car to be worked on. so im tailing his sti nicely on the turnpike and i see theres a green diamante vr-4 that shoots by me and gets my bro's attention so my bro goes at it and didnt think much of it until they started to get a bus lengh on me then i punched it to catch up. and so i was about 1 1/2 cars behind my bro again and i see the diamante is still pestering him and i get a quick phone call from my bro saying " cacth me if you can !" Klick! and my bro's sti takes off with mad power that i leaves me and my buddy in shock and the diamante next to me, so i punch it to catch up again to my bro and on my right side i see a regular looking but ricey cavalier jumping in also. but his or should i say her efforts were thwarted when me and the diamante picked up speed. and when i got to 105 the diamante just started to shut-off. and so did i because i saw my bro getting off at the exit and so i followed him off. and the diamante tryed to pull a ricer fly by and he notice that we got off on the exit real cool race for my bro.

that is a cool race, id love to se a SRT4 and an STi going at it.
