2000 Stratus -no heat

Good evening. My daughters Stratus doesnt blow any hot or warm air.The blower speeds work and the A/C works but when you turn the dial to the red temp zone no hot air.Theres no leakage from the heater core and she had the radiator flushed and new coolant not too long ago.The Dodge dealer said it was a broken blendoor arm that allows the hot air inlet to connect .But they want $800+ because its all labor to take apart the dashboard.Any comments to this. Could I do this myself.I have some basic tools.Or is it something else?

Yes, I am having the same problem. I have a 2004 dodge stratus that won't produce any heat and its getting cold. I thought it was the control knob but that wasn't it. However i haven't had the coolant.

Re: 2000 Stratus -no heat

i have a 2000 stratus and the (blendoor arm) that controls the door that switches from cold to hot air was also broke. they wont just sell u the arm($.50 part), they want to sell u the whole thing. i fixed mine buy drilling a hole in what was left of the arm and puting a tie wrap through the hole and on the arm lever, works just fine now! u have just enough room to drill the arm without taking the dash out.

I have the exact same problem with my daugther's 2000 Stratus. Can anyone point me where to get a schematic? Or how I can fix it myself?

where is the blend door accessable in the 2000 stratus. Can i find it without removing the dash? My cousin also has this problem, and i am going to try to repair it tomorrow for her because she needs this car to have heat, especially with 3 little kids.

Re: 2000 Stratus -no heat

Our 2001 has a similar problem. We have heat/defrost for about ten minutes, then it gets cold. No matter what position we the heater/defroster thru. If we park the car for a few minutes, we may have heat for a little while, then it gets cold again. Sometimes the heat will come on briefly, then cold again.
The thermostat was changed, but to no avail. I'm thinking vaccum, but I don't know were to start. Help?

Re: 2000 Stratus -no heat

I thought the blend door was operated via an actuator?

Is that not the case with these models?
