Re: 36 cylinders
" Here’s a little calculation for anyone who says MFH kits are expensive...
166MM: $288 / 382 parts = $0.75 per partSo as you can see, Model Factory Hiro kits only cost 25 cents more than a Tamiya kit " Little macaco an enzo maybe cost a bit more than 50 bucks but for sure have almost the double of 100 piece BTW: with MFH you buy iron, at least, insthead mere plastic.... I'm tuned, and happy you give life to our thread, bravo!!! PS, I never count 166's parts....... 382.... unbeliveable....

Gio, that's the whole point of statistical analysis and guesstimating - the ability to prove any thesis you want

Re: 36 cylinders
Of course I can cut a $10 Tamiya 7 into hundreds of parts, too! (Then again, once you factor in the cost of machine tooling, my way really isn't cheaper....)
Looking forward to that Aston, too!

Re: 36 cylinders
Hi you "Trio Infernale",
This isn´t a calculating forum - we want to see models !!!!!!!!!! I must admit, I prefer modern cars, so THIS 1:1 Ferrari isn´t a real favourite of mine. Nevertheless it is interesting to see what you make of the kit and what you improve (like Veyron said: improving a 200+ Euro kit seems to be a little bit at first sight, but looking at what you have done so far it is worth the effort). Looks very interesting so far, hope to see more soon opcorn:

Re: 36 cylinders
So far the only major issue with bad fitment I have come across is the front grille. The set up uses a p/e “egg crate” grille which is fitted into a white metal surround which in turn is inserted into the front of the resin body. Surprisingly the white metal frame is about 1,5 mm smaller then the hole in the resin body and leaves a very bad gap.
I fixed this by using c/a glue to attach a thin strip of styrene around the part and then sanded everything smooth and flat. Right now I think it may be too tight and after painting may not fit so I will paint the surround gloss black and polished aluminum and then test again with the primed body. If necessary, I can slightly sand again to reduce the thickness. I used light curing putty to close the locating holes for the second set of windscreens which were not fitted to s/n 0010M. I also used this putty on the white metal hood to close up a locating hole for a driving light which needs to be re-located.

Re: 36 cylinders
Looks nice! You need to sand white metal to get rid of the pitting. No other way around this!
I need to get cranking on my kit. I have some things done, no pics yet though. |

Re: 36 cylinders
Hmm, those white metal parts look *less than satisfactory*. I'm sure you guys will do a number with them but I would certainly not care to try. Looking good so far!

Re: 36 cylinders
Coated the parts with Zero Metal Etch primer and then 2 coats of Cobra Colors Moon Mud (light sanding between each coat) and it seems to have worked!
it still obviously needs some shaping work, but its getting there...
