The right blue colour for Williams FW24

There were some doubts regarding the correct colour to use for the Williams FW24 a while back and til now there wasnt any confirmation.

Some said it was the TS-64 but that was made especially for this model:
http://www.tamiya.com/english/produc...uler/index.htm

So I wrote an email to our local supplier who got in touch with Tamiya and I got a reply from him:

Quote:

Hi Aloysius,
The color quality of TS-51 was approved from the Williams F1 Team.
There is no difference in blue color between HP version and the compaq
version because only their sponsor name on the car is different between
them.
The color is very difficult to be specified because actual color and printed
color is always not the same depending on ink quality, paper quality and
adjusting color by printer.
- The above was the answers from Tamiya Japan -

Thanks & regards,
T S Sia
Forgive their english but that should clear up the main issue.

Hope this helps for those who were waiting for the correct colour to use.

The instruction calls for TS-51 Racing Blue, formerly Telefinica blue, right?

My stupid hobby store doesn't have a good selection of Tamiya paints so I may have to use something else like ts-50

Seriously, I don't buy it...they hiding something. TS-51 don't look like anything that's on their FW24... So I think they had used some Finisher's paint. I do remember they sell that color, but I can't order it by air.

Try to spray some on the unwanted part with TS51, you see the differents compare to their finished FW24. I think I will wait for that TS-64 to release. It's all my

The TS-64 looks a tad too dark and the texture doesnt seem right for the Williams. Look at the link I posted.

Perhaps there's a hidden agenda as you say on Tamiya's part but I seriously doubt it.
Coming straight from Tamiya's mouth via Tai Shing and approved by Williams F1 Team.

If I didnt receive any reply, I would still have my doubts about using TS-51, thats why I wrote to them in the first place to clarify the colour.

Anyways, there may be some truth in what you say Rtuned.

But its just doesnt make sense. Why would Tamiya try to 'cheat' us with an issue as small as a spray colour can?
Also, if they can be bothered with coming out a special colour for the truck, why not for a Williams?
Bear in mind that all kits has to be approved and licensed by the relevant principle car makers, in this case Williams.

Just some points to ponder if you will.

TS-50 is way too light for the Williams.

I believe Tamiya have utilised the paint in their range closest to the true color, that is all.

I am not sure about the paint yet but did anybody figure out how to get the seat in after glueing the monocoque halves together. Any ideas on where to cut etc.

935k3,

The instructions say to attach the seat to the inside of the monocoque before you glue them together (Step 7)

Will we see Thesaint111 be the first in AF to start with this kit?

Actually, if you guys feel that TS-51 isnt the correct colour, its really up to you. Its your kit afterall.

Maybe take your time like what Rtuned said and wait or search for the right tone of blue.

But I better post a disclaimer in case anyone here builds the kit and end up feeling that TS-51 isnt the right colour

But 1 thing I can assure you, that the above email is cut and paste and its from TaiShing.

So, good building guys!

I already know that. I want to glue the halves, fill the seams and paint without the interior being in there.
