Tangie's new "workout"
Okay, I'm probably the single laziest female in here, but I am sick of my flabby arms and less-than-firm tummy. No, I'm not dangerously obese, but after 3 years of doing NOTHING for sport I've lost most of my tone. Seeing as how I won't do anything "active" (it's still snowing here when it's not sunny or rainy... figure that one out) but really, I've taken it upon myself to do something for myself.
I'm starting off slow, but I figure this is something that many of us can take time out of our day to handle, and not have to get into workout (old) clothes to do. I have a one-liter (1.05 Qt) bottle of water that is my starting weight. My arms are a real problem b/c they are SUPER weak, and thus starting with even a 5lb weight seems like a lot. This bottle of water is a lil less "threatening" and less "workout"-like. I am starting out with 3 sets of 15 reps on the tricep curls and also 3 sets of 15 reps on the deltoid (shoulder) arm-raises. Today I just added 3 sets of 15 reps on bicep curls, but it was FAR too easy, so I will have to up the number of reps tomorrow. I'm also trying to do at least 2 pushups (full pushups, not from the knees) every day. I'm not too sore after 2 days, and it actually feels kinda good. I was able to do 3 pushups just now and I think I'll do some more later. Probably later tonight I'll do some leg-lifts to help my lil "pouch" on my belly. Anyone else doing something to keep in shape???

Getting into ANY routine is hard, but once you get into it, it's easy to stick with it. I could never workout on my own at home, too many distractions etc. So Alex and I joined a gym a little over a year ago. Having someplace away from home makes it easier for me personally, and also PAYING is incentive too.
But you need to do what YOU feel works best for YOU. Whether at home or a gym, make sure you work out a different group of muscles each day. Your groups (i.e. arms lets say) need at least 5 days to heal before you work them again. When you lift weights you are tearing your muscles, and then they heal and build up a bit with scar tissue...but not the bad kind. If you keep tearing them down before you heal then you won't build them up they will always be torn and weak so to speak. The exception to this is your abs, because they have to support your whole body. Here's a pretty basic schedule of which groups I workout: Monday: abs, chest and back + 45 min. cardio (life cycle or treadmill) Tuesday: abs, shoulders and arms + 45 min. cardio Wednesday: abs, legs + 20 min cardio Thursday: abs + 45 min - 1 hr cardio Fri - Sun: no gym, but take the dogs for a walk for go for a bike ride or do something active if the weather is nice |

My work out is waking up in the morning
![]() My job is very physical so I'm really much to exhausted at the end of the day to care much about expending more energy. If it was dryer I'd be riding horses with my freind(she has a few reining/cow horses that I show with her) That's my kinda workout!

Being in the military we have our weight standards (but ummm taking a look at most of the AF people you would wonder
)I workout 5 - 6 days a week....doing mostly cardio, monday and fridays I do the nautilaus and Tues & Thurs I do yoga...and Wednesdays are my days to just rest ...besides when you get older your metabolism slows...and being 30 I can't afford to look like my overweight counterparts.

I go to a shitty lil podunk college, and I refuse to use the weightlifting equipment. I took up running not long after that post, but now that I'm home that's died down a bit. My knees don't take too kindly to running on asphalt, so it's kinda painful. I am doing pretty well on the pushups, though.
