Question Maxima Coupe or Altima Coupe?

I'm a little confused on this one:

Why doesn't Nissan make a Maxima coupe? Or at the very least at least make an Altima coupe?

Honda makes an Accord coupe and at one time I believe that Toyota made a Camry coupe, what gives?

I think those of us who love Maximas and Altimas would love that same power with 2 doors and without the expense of the Z.

It would be a lighter weight vehicle and it will still keep the basic shape with all the amenities. Standard 18's with 19's as an option, maybe even make a SC or a Turbo as part of an Option Package with the 19's Imagine that?
What do you guys think?

You know what?

Its called the 350Z or the Infinity G35.

Yes, it is basically the Maxima in coupe form, and a brand new Z today doesn't cost much more than a brand new Maxima at all with comparable options.

2003 350Z : $26,809 - $34,619

2003 Maxima : $25,439 - $29,440

2003 G35 (350Z): $28,345 - $32,745

2003 I35 (Maxima): $29,645

The Zs of yesterday costed significantly more than the Maximas, but times have changed. As you can see, costs are comparable and overlapping. for the cost of the most expensive Maxima, you can get a middle of the road 35Z or G35. Not a bad deal!

Yes, you are somewhat in the ballpark of what I was talking about but for a comparison of all out blazing speed the Z isn't faster than say a significantly cheaper in price New Neon or EVO, where is our comp car in that niche. Yes the Z is a lot nicer in terms of quality and value but we (Nissan) doesn't have a car in the range of the WRX/EVO or Neon that can blaze all out.

This is where I envisioned maybe a Max or Altima coupe with AWD and or an SC/Turbo, I think it will add a certain uniqueness to the bunch when you can say that I have a Maxima or Altima coupe because everyone has a Z or G. Hell Z's and G's are becoming more common than Hondas and BM's.
What do you think of this now? And naw this time I didn't just wake up, I was actually at work and had to hurry up and thread up before my Boss/Vulture is hovering over my shoulders with her claws in my back.
Uh, oh she just walked in, gotta go, let me know what yall think.

I agree in totality
supposedly the spec v is the car that was to compete with the new neon and wrx. HOWEVER, it's extremely underpowered if compared to these two cars who OBVIOUSLY have a turbo from the factory.
all nissan has to do is put a turbo in the spec v and we will have our car that is cheap and fast as hell.:sun:

You guys are talking about a Sport Compact Coupe. That's a completely different class than the Maxima or the Altima. Like Strider said, put a turbo on the Sentra Spec-V and you've got your car!

Yes but is/does Nissan have any plans to do it? If so, when? It's like Paonessa was saying in his thread, "I'm pissed". Why can't we have it now (me, whinning like a lil baby) this is getting ridiculous.

Because while the rest of the auto world races ahead, we're getting left behind and will have to play catch-up in order to get in the race.
It seems to me that there is a growing market out there for this type of performance at that kind of price and if Nissan doesn't start offering turbos or sc's they will lose the younger crowd who favors these fast n furious cars.

I think that turbos are making a big comeback and whoever is sleeping will see their sales slip in the end. While Nissan is busy putting out SpecV's, Mitsu is putting out EVO and Dodge is putting out Neon, soon Mazda will Turbo the 6 and then we will all be looking at the a$$ end of all those cars from our beloved Maximas, Altimas and SpecV's, I don't know about you but to me those cars are on a lesser tier than the Max/Altima and I prefer to see them where they belong>behind me in my rear view.

all these arguments are very convincing. we should get a petition together and send it nissan's way, letting them know how we feel, anyone interested?

Are you talking about the 2k3 Max or the 2k4? Because the 2k4 is about the same price as the 350Z and G35 coupe.

i'm down, nissan needs a turbo something and fast. AWD would be nice but isn't necessary. and affordability is a major factor. even if it isn't really a bullet from the factory. i need better gains from mods and turbo's are where it's at. 30+hp from an ecu, 20-30hp from an aftermarket liquid-air intercooler, 30-40 hp from new cams. boost controllers and wastegates you could get a 250 hp car to around 400 hp for less than $2,000. in a year, or probably even, less you're gonna see some really sick evo 8's and srt-4's driven by kids who dumped as much money into their cars as you did but are running as much as a full second faster in 1/4 miles.

I'm all for it, we need to run a poll on this website and have the moderator e-mail or fax the results to Nissan HQ so that they can see that there's a demand for this type of product in their line-up of cars.

I agree with P (Paonessa) it doesn't necessarily have to be AWD but it's just that with the AWD off the line handles the Turbo power so well with no wheelspin and it would be great to get all that power to the ground.

Is Nismo coming to America as Nissan promised and if so will they bring these kind of things with them like Turbos/SC and will they be under warranty from the factory?

If you pick up the may 03 issue of Sport Compact Car, and read about the EVO 8, 04 Subaru WRX STi, and the Mazda RX-8, you'll see how that time is already on us. It also has an article about street racing in Tokyo, all those who really really want skylines and silvias, I dont recommend it. But Hell, let's get this started.

Maybe we should suggest this over at Maxima.org and see if we can get unilateral support on this and while we're at it we may as well raise the issue over at freshalloy.com Maxima forum and see if we can get their support too.
Spaz and P are right the time is upon us now and Nissan does need to turbo fast, this is ridiculous, while every other auto maker is out there playing the game we have to search for someone (custom builders) just to be able to see if they will make a turbo/sc for our cars.

I thought Nismo was supposed to be the cure all, are they even coming to America?

i think if nissan caught a bombardment of mail concerning a forced induction performance vehicle, it think they'd respond accordingly. if anyone can find the appropriate nissan email address to send a letter of this sort to i'd be more than willing to send one myself.
