Enamel paints vs. Acrylics and application?
Okay just one more Q (have had lots since I startedmodelling but no one to ask)
I use to use enamel paints on model planes (like when I was 13....) but disastrously ugly consequences. then when I was 15-16 I painted a crud load of Games Workshop stuff with acrylics, and I never looked back. Acrylics take alot of coats to paint properly. But how do you use enamel? is it straight on top of any primer you've used etc? btw I used little pots of humbrol...and my 2nd attempt at a model was a 32 inch long B52 (the Enola Gay) it was put together okay, but the painting sucked ass.

Boy, you do have a lot of questions Richard!
Funnily I am the exact opposite. Love using enamels but hate acrylics! I only ever use acrylics for wahes and sometimes clear parts. Don't really have any trick to using enamels - brush 'em, thin and spray 'em, no worries! So long as you don't paint them under laquers or over acrylics. I think there are certain ways you can layer laquers, enamels amd acrylics safely but I take the view that they are best kept as seperate as possible. |
