1988 Pontiac Tojan

Saw this one here in columbus. Talked to the guy that owns it, it is NOT a kit car, it was one of the origanal 300 made.

I don't think I've ever seen one of thse before. That is a really amazing model and is probably worth a ton of money. Was that a one-year only model from Pontiac? I actually think it looked just as good as the Firebirds of those years...

The Tojan is a car that was made by Knudsen Industries in Omaha, NE. There were 300 hundred made. Each one is different, meaning no two are alike (paint, wheels, motors, interiors, T-Tops, rag tops, hard tops, etc.). Some are HellFires, others are just Tojans. It was rumored that Gale Banks did motor work on some of these motors. I know that mine has a 1986 Corvette HEI ignition and I am sure there was some motor work involved, but I have not ripped it down to see what exactly was done. My Tojan is a fast and furious ride. Will post pic at a later date.
Hope this has helped clear up any questions you might have had.

85 Tojan

This is definitely a car that people either love or hate. I have an 85 Tojan. It was bought in 97 in Mass and has been through a lot of work since. It is a blast to drive. My current rating is about 180 mph, bench tested to about 160 on the 350 that is in it now. There are considerable modifications in mine, most for future track racing, like racing seats and harnesses. Speaking of fieros, someone once mistook it for one. Maybe if you only consider the length of the hood...

That looks almost exactly like a pontiac that a company in Houston built called the pegasus. It was one ugly ride, the same people built a truck called the saudi I think.

Re: 1988 Pontiac Tojan

I thought it might be ok until I saw that the engine is mounted in the FRONT. It really makes that Lamborghini style wing seem like it is far to big.

It's like the front end of an F40, with the rear of a Testarossa, topped off by a Countach wing. Given the time that this car was released, I don't have any trouble thinking that's where the styling was taken from.
