Is there even a warranty left on a 1.9? I don't think they've made a 1.9 since, what? 96? Federal law protects consumers against dealers who attempt to void warranty for fitting aftermarket equipment or accessories. If your car is covered by a new or dealer warranty, the dealer may not void the warranty simply because you have used aftermarket equipment, unless that equipment damages the vehicle. Downing Atlanta Supercharger probably warrants that from happening. The Specialty Equipment Manufacturer Association (SEMA) has made the following statements regarding such aftermarket products:
"...The vehicle manufacturer is not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket equipment is installed on the vehicle..." "...In cases where such a failed aftermarket part is responsible for a warranty claim, the (vehicle) manufacturer must arrange a settlement with the part manufacturer, but the new vehicle warrant is not void under the law..." "...If the failure to honor a claim involves the new-vehicle warranty, and it appears that the (vehicle) manufacturer is improperly denying a claim, the incident should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)..." I would keep all original parts handy to return the vehicle to original condition just in case!

The last I checked, the were roughly $4000. The Z3's 1.9 is the same that was used in my 1996 318ti. The ad for Downing Atlanta, regularly in "Bimmer" magazine, usually shows either a 318ti or a Z3 along with the price. The price may have gone up since I haven't payed that much attention to the ad since I sold my 318ti 2 years ago.
BannaZ3, I will get back to you on where I got that info as soon as I have more time (I'm at work right now). |

I don't own a Z3, I own a 93 escort with a 1.9 and I was just wondering if it would fit, but I think that it won't. I was really stupid for thinking that just for 1 second that it might actually work. Even if it did fit, I couldn't afford $4000.

The Downing/Atlanta supercharger for the 1.9 is roughly 3,000 dollars, does anyone know how much it would cost to have it put in at a BMW dealership

Hell, if you try to jump start another car with your BMW the warranty is voided.
