Tamiya Sonax/Tabac Mercedes DTM

Basic out of the box build of one of Tamiya's older kits. This one is painted with Testors Emerald Green Metallic lacquer and Tamiya clear lacquer, then polished.

The kit went together fairly well without too much problem. I had some minor problems with the kit glass interfering with the interior when I placed the chassis into the body, nothing major that couldn't be resolved fairly easy.

The green and blue is kind of a weird color scheme. I couldn't find much for reference on this car so I chose the green by mixing the color from Tamiya Acrylics as the instructions suggested then found the closest color I could in a spray can.

Thanks for looking...

Beautiful job! The color looks great, I think it's impossible to match the ral car anyway as it appeared to be a green blue flip flop paint. I wish they would re-issue this one.

Awesome model! I'll never get tired of seeing these old DTM cars. I recently had the opportunity to pick up all the C-Class DTM models but stupidly did not!! I did however get the Opel Calibra

Nice, clean job! I have the production car (my real car), and I have been meaning to build my DTM D2 version.

This is indeed a great looking model.
You've done a very good job in capturing the colour. I think it looks spot on.
And you finish is excellent.

I recently sold my (unbuilt) kit and only have 2 Alfa's and 2 Calibra's left in my stash (and no, I won't sell any of those).

Beautiful! I have this one waiting in line to be build. Where did you find pictures for this car? I just have 2 or 3 pitures, but no interior and engine pictures, if you have it and you don't mind to e-mail me I will appreciate a lot. Thank you and great job on this!

Re: Tamiya Sonax/Tabac Mercedes DTM

Wow awesome build. If you added Carbon fiber decals on to some parts it would be a show stopper!! Everything looks flawless from what i can tell.

Re: Tamiya Sonax/Tabac Mercedes DTM

Thanks everyone...

Unfortunately, I don't have any interior pic's. I didn't take any pictures during the WIP but you're not really missing much... simple interior, seatbelt decals, etc...

The color is only my best guess. In real life my model does have a bit of blue tone to it when viewed from certain angles but if that makes it more correct it's only by luck that it happened that way.

Unfortunately, I don't have any reference pics saved. The only reference that I had were the few pics that came up when I did a google search and I simply looked at them and thought to myself, "it's hard to tell what color it's supposed to be", so I built the kit according to the instructions... right or wrong.

I enjoyed it, and I really like the look of it but have no way of knowing if it's accurate or not. I do know it looks decent on the shelf and I appreciate everyones comments. Thanks...!
