Reset ECU After CAI Install???
I just installed a custom CAI on my 1990 Lude SI. Was just wondering if I should reset the ECU? A friend said that I should, so just wanted some opinions? If so what fuse do I pull to reset it, thanx!

resetting the ecuu will let the ecu reprogram itself and adjust to the modifications. you're letting more air into the engine and your ecu is programmed for much less air flow. reset it and it'll adjust for the increased air flow. i'm not sure what fuse to pull on your lude. on 5th gens it's the clock/radio fuse. but what you can do is just disconnect the positive terminal on the battery and leave off for 5 minutes. then just reconnect it.

question! i just took out my battery wire for like 15 mins, then put it back on. then i drove normally, but then i took it up close to redline in 2nd gear just to make it adjust itself. then i went normal speeds. is that bad?? did i mess up the learning mode, should i reset it again and drive normally or is it ok that i put it to redline. i thought putting it to redline might help the learning but im not sure.

once you start the car after resetting the computer will allow it to adjust. even just idling will do fine. no need to redline. dont' worry about it though.

the thing is, i already redlined like i said about. it wasnt asking what i should do in my previous post, its what i actually did. but i guess the computer can adjust itself even after redlining right? it should be ok anyway? keep in mind, i have obd1

http://www.markl.f9.co.uk/howto/elec.../reset-ecu.htm Only joking dude, but you’re not supposed to rev the engine though. Once you reset the ECU turn the ignition on and let it idle for about 5 minutes, then turn it off (remember not to touch the accelerator). That’s it you’re good to go, hope this helps.

Haha, sorry man couldn't resist. Nah leave it, it will adjust itself over time anyway. There are some values it resets straight away when you disconnect and reconnect the battery terminals, the rest will adjust eventually.
