tuning/reseting ECU after mods?
Do I need to, or should I have my car tuned after installing the intake and cat-back? What about reseting the ECU? I read on the internet somewhere that you should do this and that this is how you do it:
"What you do is after mods, or tune-ups, leave the car running and locate and open the fuse box. This is above the air intake box and below the windshield. After opening this box, locate the ECU and radio/backup fuse. Pull them out gently with a pair of pliers WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. You have to leave them out for at least 10 seconds to reset the computer. Remove the keys from the ignition. After waiting, place the fuses in their proper places and restart your engine. It will stumble at first, but then the computer will read sensor information, compensate and regulate. Your car will thank you for this" Does this sound right to you guys? Also when we talk about tuning your car after mods, we aren't talking about taking the car to Honda for a tune up are we? Where would you go to tune up your car after mods and how much would it run someone? Would I see any gains by doing either of these things to my car now? Thx,

tuning isnt worth it with just a catback...get a couple other mods and then try it. you will need an saf-c to tune though(or something like it).
to reset your ecu, take the negative wire off your battery and push on the brake pedal until there is no light showing up. this is to get rid of any residual electricity left in your cars electrical system. then just put the cable back on, and remember, it takes a while for your car's ecu to adjust itself to the new mod. |

Is ther any specific way I should drive my car while the ecu is adjusting to the new mods?

not really...you could gradually up your aggresiveness every so often. that might help it a little. just dont drive real hard for the first 100 miles or so.

Re: tuning/reseting ECU after mods?
You don't have to reset the ECU after a mod. The computer will gradually read the differences in air flow and be fully adjusted in a day's worth of driving or so. If you want to speed up the process, drive at a variety of speeds and throttle positions. This will acclimate the ECU a little faster. Resetting is not necessary.
